Pimlico Plummers

Good program on C4 at moment about Pimlico Plummers.

Basically the boss is getting all of the staff to be open about their wages. There is no extra money to go into the pot, if they feel some of the other staff are under paid they can donate some of their wages to them.

Very interesting program as big differences in pay for the same job.

I like PP, they're just down the road from me and nice company, I liked it when one of the family were on Secret Millionaire

If a company want the pay to be fairer they are the only ones who can change that.

I have worked in a number of places where the people on the bigger salary couldn't do their own job and I was expected to do some of it. Now, that's not fair.

In some companies there would be a difference in pay as one person may have more experience or been there longer. The company obviously set the salaries, not the employee.

Interesting to see how its going to end, you have to feel for the guy earning 9k a year less....... hes now totting it up over his 4 year service...

Cant see how they are all going to be friendly colleagues now!

Garage staff appears to be the only ones that recognise collectively and solidarity and avoid turning worker against worker.

It's an interesting program, looks like it will all come good.

Brave idea by Charlie who I guess is a self made man who started as a hairy !!!!!d plumber and made good. So did not have the business training but a novel idea that could have gone badly wrong.

Looks like it will raise a lot of the lower salaries and give the staff more of a feeling of having a stake in the business.

Amusingly if he is doing his job correctly for his £56k, the PR manager should find his way to this thread. If he does not then he deserves an even bigger pay cut!

If you've not seen the C4 show "How the other half live" sort of secret millionaire program with one of charlies family helping a poor family who are their own worst enemies, it's well worth hunting down to watch

Watching this on ch.4 +1 now, Absolutely shocked at the wages the 'work-force' are revealing.Seems a bit of shambles how the new worker Ben is on 3k more than the others. Comedy gold this is. Charlie's a joker though.

When you consider that all their plumbers are earning up to £100,000 a year, and there are shed loads of them, I think the company should be spending more than £56k a year on PR staff...

This was in the sun paper today. The pr manager gave up 1k of his salary after shadowing a canteen worker for the day so that she could have a rise.

The article didn't say if the big boss man on 1 million pounds per year gave any of his salary up. However good luck to him, he started the business and has created jobs for others.

... and it's £150,000 if you work on drains.
