Cordless Phone

Hi,

I have a 5 bedroom house. My last cordless BT phone didnt work in all of the house.

Can anyone recommed a good cordless phone which has long range and will work in a big 5 bedroom house and garden. Budget around £100 but can strech to £150. I only need 2 handsets.

Must have answering machine, caller display and phonebook and not touchscreen.
Thanks

All use the DECT standard so are pretty much of a muchness, however Panasonic devices have a better build quality than those supplied to BT. All the features you require are standard, but for range do remember the higher the base is placed, the greater the range.

Also keep it away from WiFi routers, as this causes interference and range issues to both.
  • My cordless just conked out so I'm looking for a new one as well.

Trouble is, all the ones on Amazon have some very good and some very bad reviews, making the choice difficult. I'm looking for one with two handsets and no answerphone.

The Panasonic KX-TG6712EB DECT looks as good as any from the blurb, but suggestions would be appreciated.

The trouble with reviews, is that you have no clue whether the user set it up correctly, making their conclusions worthless.

There is often very little difference in cost with TAM and nonTAM versions, so it may be worthwhile to get one with, as you can use it or not as circumstances dictate.

Took the plunge and bought a Panasonic KX-TG2512 at Tesco taking advantage of Tesco's double up on Clubcard vouchers on electricals. £39.87 (£33.50 on Amazon).

Initial impressions are good. I will post when I've had it for a couple of weeks.

Have fun! Do read the full manual, as it's amazing what features lie discovered!

The Panasonic KX-TG2512 seems to be a good phone. More ring tone options than I'll ever need, the ring is loud enough to be heard anywhere in the house. The battery lasts for days without charge (though I don't use the phone all that much).

Good sound quality. I just need a phone to make and receive calls, so I've no idea what other clever things the phone can or can't do, but it does what I need it to do. It feels quite solid and well built.

Most important of all the recpetion is good - it works way down the garden.

So, if you need a cordless with 2 handsets that does the basics I'd recommend it.
