Mbna non advised ppi claim rejection

Can anybody advise as to what my next steps should be. I have received a final response from MBNA today for a credit card mis-sold PPI protection claim dating back to 26th October 2001. The letter advises that I had ticked the box and the sale was non-advised. From reading other posts on the site this looks like a standard rejection letter. MBNA have sent me a copy of my credit agreement that shows that I did tick the box but the Payment Protection Box stated that MBNA strongly recommended that you take out this cover. The box also did not explain the full terms and conditions just mentioned that the cost was £68p per £100 of the statement balance and would cover for sickness, unexpected unemployment and life cover. At the time I took it out I had been in full time employment for 14 years, had an excellent redundancy policy, was paid when off sick and had death in service cover with my employer. What they have not provided is a copy of the full terms and conditions of the insurance that would have been sent at the time the postal form was sent nor have they sent a copy of the covering letter. My reasons for mis-selling when I logged the complaint was that MBNA did not tell me at the time of purchase that I did not have to purchase the insurance from MBNA and there may have been a cheaper alternative out there. Nor did they tell me that the PPI payments would accrue interest. Both of these points I stated in my letter but the response did not bear any reference to these points. My only option now is to go the the FOS and I'm wondering if anyone can advise that it is actually worth doing this. I did say on my form I completed for the PPI claim that at the time I was certain I had been told the cover was mandatory and there was a better chance of me getting the credit card if I took it out. I was certain I had spoken to someone on the phone but their response does not respond to this point either. What should I do????? Thanks in advance

There has never been any requirement for them to do so.Nor did they tell me that the PPI payments would accrue interest.
You would have to be pretty daft to no know that. Although I dont believe there would be any need to. Its not a risk warning that would be expected. Both of these points I stated in my letter but the response did not bear any reference to these points.
Probably as neither point if a valid reason for complaint. My only option now is to go the the FOS and I'm wondering if anyone can advise that it is actually worth doing this.
It is up to you but your complaint reasons are rubbish (sorry). Do you have any decent complaint reasons that show any wrong doing?I did say on my form I completed for the PPI claim that at the time I was certain I had been told the cover was mandatory and there was a better chance of me getting the credit card if I took it out.
No evidence to support that allegation and they say it was non-advised.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. That means you must complain to the person who persuaded you to take out the PPI, not MBNA.From reading other posts on the site this looks like a standard rejection letter. My reasons for mis-selling when I logged the complaint was that MBNA did not tell me at the time of purchase that I did not have to purchase the insurance from MBNA and there may have been a cheaper alternative out there.Nor did they tell me that the PPI payments would accrue interest.
Are you trying to tell us you are so stupid that you did not realise?I did say on my form I completed for the PPI claim that at the time I was certain I had been told the cover was mandatory and there was a better chance of me getting the credit card if I took it out.
Two questions:
Why would they tell you there would be a better chance if it was mandatory anyway?
Why, if it was mandatory, would they bother making you tick a box to apply for it.
Your assertion sounds nonsensical.0 -
