Problems With PPI Payments and Halifax

I'm very stressed at the moment and don't know what to do next.
I registered a PPI complaint with a third party firm some time ago against Halifax on a number of loans I had with them over the years. Five weeks ago I lost my partner and a few days afterwards Halifax wrote out to me saying they're going to make the payments and sending me cheques in his name. For this I received some of the cheques I was due. I decided to contact them to inform of the change in circumstance and was advised to return the cheques with his death certificate. I sent this via Recorded Delivery and had a reply from them two days letter to confirm they received this and my claim will progress as normal.
The original letter said it would take up to 28 days for all payments to arrive. As of today, it is now 28 days later and nothing has been received. I have been contacting the Halifax PPI team but every time I get through to a contact centre in the Philippines  who knows sod all about my claim. I phoned them on Friday. I was on hold for an hour just for them to say to me they got no record of me returning the cheques. I demanded to speak to a guy in the UK which they did but he was no help. All he did was to give me an alternative number which went back to the Philippines.
I have now got the third party on my back as they're asking for their payment but I cannot pay them until I had the cheques from the bank.
I am hoping someone will help me out and point to me where I go next.

They originally said within 28 days I will receive the cheques. It's now gone beyond that. Also when I posted the death certificate the reply letter said they will contact me. That letter was dated on 27th June. I had no call from them.0 -

Contact the claims co and explain what has happened and tell them they will get the money when you get it, let them know that if they do not comply, you will complain to the claims regulator, this is something beyond your control.0
