damp/mouldy kitchen

Hi I have a really damp kitchen, not the kitchen itself, but the cupboards and drawers, there is an awful musty smell, and anything in packets seems to become damp ( I have tried to put most things in plastic containers) however the damp mouldy smell is really irritating me. The kitchen is 30+ years old, and I rent.
Is there anything anyone can advise, I dont know where it is coming from, its just constantly damp. The rest of this house is ok. We have been here 4 months. I make sure there is air flowing, we do not use or have a tumble dryer, there are no visible leaks.

you need to find the source of the damp - check the outside walls - there may be giveaway signs of where the damp is coming from - check guttering , downpipes for blockages , signs of mould /damp on exterior walls, cracks in walls , ,any leaking pipes in the kitchen , , dripping from sink etc , waste pipes .
if your landlord is nice , he might fit something like this , which will get rid of rup to 2.3 lts of water per day which is quite a lot http://www.condensationshop.com/products/passyfier/sleeved/0 -
Hi thanks for the reply, my landlord is the local council, they are aware of the general state of the kitchen but are not going to do anything. I am aware of the decent homes standard and I believe the kitchen meets it (and the bathroom) but they are not going to replace/fix.
I will take a look at the link and see if I can get a price. Thanks.SPC 2012 #1456
