I use IE9, and F-Secure Security Suite. Yesterday, my computer did some automatic updates, and when I turned my computer back on, there was a statement saying IE had been unpinned from my taskbar. I went into programs so I could create a shortcut and discovered there was another version of IE9 (64 bit). When I clicked on this, I noticed that the "Browsing Protection Toolbar" that existed on the previous version was unavailable. On the old version if you right clicked on the toolbar at the top you'd got the option of turning on "Browsing Protection Toolbar". This option no longer exists when I right click on the toolbar. Does anyone know anything about this, please? I can still use the old version of IE9, which does still have that option. I'd just like to understand what's happened. Many thanks.

Is that an IE9 issue or an F-Secure issue, please? What does 64 bit mean, (as opposed to the previous version)?

By 'previous version' I presume you mean the 32 bit version of IE9?

You should find that you have both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions on your computer

Yes, I have two IE9 now, one says 64 bit, the earlier one doesn't say what it is (when I right click on properties). I can still get Browsing Protection Toolbar with the earlier version, but not with the one that appeared yesterday. I don't know what 64 bit means.

The one that "doesn't say what it is" is the 32 bit version. It is still a current version, one is not older/newer than the other. If you're happy using the 32 bit version, then simply delete the 64 bit shortcut from your desktop (or wherever else you found it) and pin the 32 bit version back to the taskbar

From what I can see, the link is referring to Windows 7, it's IE9 I've have the issue with. Sorry, if this is one of the same thing, I just assumed they were different (I thought IE9 is the browser you use for internet access, and Windows 7 is the operating system), but I'm not at all technical, so am probably confused then?

Yes you are correct IE is the browser but it has two versions 32 and 64 bit (the 32 bit one works on 32/64 bit Windows 7) the 64 bit one only works on windows 64 bit. Some toolbars do not work in 64 bit versions. Also when updates are applied to the browser some toolbars / add-ons take a little time to catch up. I don't use IE much but on Firefox many add-ons take a few days to catch up with updates.

Try the IE link that does not say 64bit
