Hi,
I have a Advent Sienna 700 laptop which has a HDMI connection.
I therefore want to connect it to my new LG E2251 monitor - which also has a HDMI connection.
But when I try this - nothing - accept for when I take the cable out, I get "Check Signa Cable" - which suggests it is something to do with the settings on the laptop?
Any idea - as LG were next to useless ....

Unfortunately there's little out there in terms of manuals etc for this (as is sometimes the case with DSGi branded laptops).
Its likely to be similar to other laptops where you have to activate the HDMI connection through the keyboard for it to work. Similar to a projector connected to a laptop.
In the bottom left of the keyboard should be an Fn or function key, they are usually alongside the windows flag key.
When you hold that key down you then activate the function menus on the keyboard, these are keys with functions in the same colour as the function (or Fn) key.
On my Dell for example, I have to hold down Fn and hit the button with a picture of a monitor on to scroll through the various connection options.
Find a similar key (they are usually the number keys across the top) - press it while holding down the Fn key and it should provide you with the option to output to HDMI.0 -
