Flymo Micro Lite

We have a Flymo Micro Lite electric lawnmower Model MLITE 28 1.0Kw

My wife was cutting the grass a few days ago, during an unusual dry spell, when suddenly the motor stopped and a burning smell was noticed.

Today I removed the blades/fan down to the motor shaft. Pressing the start handles the motor ran then stopped after a few seconds, upon pressing the start handles again the motor buzzed giving off a smell as before.

Has the motor seen its best days of does it need brushes??

regards

Leif I could not agree more, but when you are in your 70s your sense of humour maybe not always receptive. And you know what they say about 'empty barrels'

I thought that perhaps it might not of been 'as worthless' as some people may seem and that I might have had more luck.

When I first read the thread title I did wonder why anyone would be talking about micro flying on this bit of the forum:D

Does sound as though it has seen it's last mow.

There are some fairly basic small rotary mowers with wheelson offer. I know our local Aldi were selling stock off reduced last week and I think even Tesco.

Thanks grizzly1911 for your constructive comments that I will certainlt persue.

I maybe jumped a little too quickly today but 'she who shall be obayed' had been giving it some, you know what, that being a person who has not learnt yet that sometimes it is best to repair 'by replacement' and cheaper.

I looked at the prices of new motors for this model and they were not far away from £50 plus delivery, and being only 1Kw would struggle under load. 1.4Kw is required at least for a hovver but as pointed out the ones with wheels would be easier worked.

Thanks again to you 'all' I get the humour.

I swapped from a flymo 25+ years old to a Bosch 36" wiith wheels last year. It has 1400 motor and copes with our medium size lawn very well even with it being wet and long this year.

It is certainly a lot less effort than the flymo which I think was a 30" cut.

I also have a cylinder mower but moles made this redundant:mad:. There was something therapeutic about the put, put noise as it trundled along.
