Best 'Prestigious' Reward Credit Card??

Hi,
I'm planning on visiting the States soon and will be paying for flights / hotels for myself and my gf. I also tend to spend a lot each month and would really benefit from having a rewards card (I'd prefer this to a Cash back card). I'd mainly use the rewards for flights/travel related things, but I do like the option to use them for other things and would prefer a multi platform like Amex rather than pure Air Miles.
Given the amount I'm planning to spend, I'm pretty sure I'll qualify enough for most of the intro offers out there ie £3,000 in 3 months for the AMEX Platinum Rewards.
I'm a bit of a snob, so I'm more interested in Platinum/Gold/Black etc cards even if they aren't as competitive as other alternatives although I'm not really willing to pay any more than the £450 for the AMEX Platinum.
I also like the idea of potential flight upgrades, airport lounge access and other things that will only come with these more prestigious cards.
I've done a bit of research and I've short listed the BA Amex Premium, AMEX Gold/Platinum Rewards and Virgin Black but tbh I don't really have a clue what the best deal is.
I'm planning to pay off the balance each month, so interest is not an issue, it's more about the rewards/perks aspect.
Can anyone offer any guidance?
Much appreciated
Thanks

Sounds like you're more in the Amex Charge Card market, rather any kind of credit card if you want to maximise holder benefits and reward points. Amez'a website is very clear about the benefits of each card (and the annual fee!). They do have to paid off each month, which you're planning to do anyway. If for any reason you don't want to pay them off in a particular month they have a thing called FlexSelect which puts single purchases over a certain amount (£150 or thereabouts) into a credit card type interest charging zone allowing time to pay.0
