Vandalised PIR Sensor Light

I went round to my flat to find my Sensor light totally smashed off the wall and just hanging by it's wire. (First time it's happened although we have a bit of a grafitti problem in the area).
I need a sensor light as I struggle with my keys when I'm trying to open the door. I guess they took offence to the light coming on as they walked by.
I'm thinking of having CCTV looking onto the area in front of my flat but am wondering whether this is wise as it may make the vandals more upset and could possibly start them targetting my home.
Has anyone got any experience of dealing with anti-social problems?

you can try and fit the new sensor higher up and out of reach.
also mask the sensor so that its operating field is very narrow. ie just on the door/lock area.Get some gorm.0 -
you can get some very small cctv cameras now that you can site out of view of the vandals.
otherwise do as ormus says put the light higher up and mask the sensor with some black insulation tape0 -
You may want to think about changing it to a low power long life dawn to dusk lamp and mount it higher so they cant get at it. These can cost less to run longer term than some of the PIR floodlight types and have the advantage of being on all the time giving the impression of being in.0

Thanks for your replies.
I'll buy a lantern that fits flat to the wall and see how I get on.
If they do that as well then it's going to have to be CCTV and a much higher light.0 -
you can buy vandal proof lights too.Get some gorm.0

Would be someone annoyed by the light pollution. Get a light that can be adjusted to point downwards, for the PIR and the light itself. So it only goes on when you are a couple of feet from the front door.0
