Csa any ideas?

Hi,

I have been receiving maintenance for my 13 year old son for the past 18 months or so through the CSA.

Today i received a letter telling me that the application for maintenance ended on 01/10/2007?

I phoned CSa and the guy i talked to was as baffled as i am, eventually he found that someone is looking at the file and has indeed stopped the case and is going to restart it.Apparently they should have spoken to me and sent a form with the letter to restart the case.

He said it was a very rare thing and he had not known it before.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Because i am totally confused.

It's probably an admin error. The CSA isn't exactly known for running a flawless system.

Thats what they guy said at first , but as he delved deeper he said they have definatly closed it and are re opening it.

He was very helpful but as bemused as me about it.

Make a formal complaint that it was closed without notification and not requested, and chase a compensation payment for your hassles... ;)

Would i be within my rights to do that?

I really would like to know what on earth the reason is for closing it when they say they are reopening it again, it just all seems a little odd.

CSA as as an organization are terrible! I have been dealing with them for 14 years + as NRP and PWC.
They seem to be getting worse than ever and they have no regard for either.
It's getting to the point where we as a forum may have to complain. Because as individuals they don't take any of us seriously.

    Well, curiouser and curiouser!

I gave up waiting and called back today, no one seems to understand why my case has been closed.

A supervisor spoke to me and said it is with complaints but the advisor working on it is unavailable. She will not be there until thursday but will call me back then( famous last words)

She also said that is was marked as UNSAFE, anyone with any CSA experience have a clue what it could be about?

Many thanks in advance, i am completely confused, as are the CSA advisers i have spoken to.
  • 'Unsafe'? Nope, never heard that at all, 'sensitive' yes, but not unsafe. Odd one...

Please get your MP involved immediately. Their assistant will phone the Parliamentary hotline and they will also write a letter querying why the case has been closed.

I can guarantee you will receive a much quicker response. Then you can decide what your next step will be, like claiming for compensation!

When did you last receive maintenance?

That is the strange thing, i received a payment on the 29 June, earlier than usual, then last Wednesday i got the letter.

When i phoned them (it is at Crewe) the guy could find nothing about the letter on the screen. then after a bit of digging he said yes it has been closed and will be re opened but he did not know why as he had never seen it before.

Thanks for the help, i will wait and see if they phone on Thursday so i have more information to give to my MP.

yep, unsafe is the word they used, both the adviser and the supervisor after speaking to complaints, very odd as no one at Crewe seems to know what it means!!
