holiday query

my mum has booked a holiday to turkey next may, there were no single rooms left, so she has had to pay double for the whole 2 weeks holiday, including , all inclusive meals, flights, shes paying, £1200 instead of £600, does anyone know if this is right.

A double room used by a single person will mean that under-occupancy supplements apply.
You see this sometimes with holidays advertised at bargain prices with the small print stating "price based on 4 sharing" then if only 2 the price increases.

Is the hotel available to book on it's own, not as part of a package, then could book flight, transfers separately

It's a bit late to be worry about it now!

In my experience, you normally just pay an under occupancy supplement for the room.

You should have asked before she booked.I'm sure someone on here would have managed to find her a cheaper way. Too late now

If she's not travelling until next May I would seriously look at cancelling now and forfeiting the deposit and re-booking at a much cheaper price by different means.

My wife and her friend have just returned from Turkey, they flew from separate airports one day apart. They did not pay a supplement for single room occupancy. They hotel even gave them adjoining rooms, the manager did try to get them to share, but refused and it was left as that.
