If you really don't need 3G don't buy the 3G version. The wifi version will be a little, but probably not much cheaper. Your biggest saving will be on excess data charges from the 3G provider - so easy to go over in my experience...0

Nope.

If you plan in the future to be out and about with it a lot, you could consider it. BUT it's prolly cheaper to just buy a Mifi device from likes of 3, and use that with it, if you're out with no wifi available. PAYG data sims are way cheaper than if you went on a data plan, especially if you won't use it all that much.
Equally you could tether a connection from your phone, if your tariff, and phone are capable. But I live with my wifi one happily, and use a Mifi unit when needed.0 -

Thanks so much for explaining it, much appreciated0 -
Nice explanation hartleysjam. Wish someone had explained it like that when I bought my Samsung galaxy tab. I got there in the end but took me ages.
I bought mine without 3g, and when I occasionally need to use it out and about I tether to my phone. Saved me quite a bit of money, and I'm happy with it.0
