Frigidaire rl6003b problem

We have the above fridge, it is not very old (have to find receipt to find out how old).

It is running CONSTANTLY. It is managing to maintain temperature, I have turned it to a lower setting (higher temperature) to try to stop it. If I manually turn it off it comes back on after only a few minutes.

The compressor at the back is running hot to the touch. Is this because it is running all the time or is it the problem? Could there be some other problem?

Thank you for any help.

Bump - anyone got any ideas? It did turn itself off for a while when I got it down to 3, does this mean it is the thermostat?

If the thermostat was faulty and the compressor is running all the time, then the fridge contents will be frozen solid.

Check the obvious like adequate airflow over the condenser on the back, the door is closing/sealing properly and the interior lamp is going out when the door is closed.

Then most likely a compressor failure or a refrigerant gas leak.

Thank you. Airflow over the condenser is fine, door is sealing properly, interior lamp was constantly going so gave up changing it!

Have actually found a level at which it shuts off for a while whilst still maintaining a resonable temperature, although not as cold as I prefer it is cold enough, so have a bit more time to look for a new one now!
