Why does it not surprise me that the French have NOT offshored production? Aigle wellies are lovely, they are about as flattering as wellies get. My old Hunters are still going strong but they are 25 years old. They're not green any more though.

I buy Mephisto trampolin shoes, anothe French brand, for every day and they are just sooo comfortable especially if you have Plantar Fasciitis. You could walk for miles in these but now that the Pound is so weak against the Euro they have really shot up in price

I prefer them in nubuck, they're less clumpy
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I found some relatively cheap neoprene wellies in a sale. Toast.

Oh you were lucky, I have been looking at some neoprene gloves, the cost is a bit gasp inducing so I didn't dare look for wellies.

Will sneak a look now and then though if there is a chance of a bargain and I have some spare money.

Steady now..... I've had to deal with preppers overload before, it can be very serious.

Gently does it, you can do your wallet a right damage without even knowing.

keep meaning to add that if you want a good fire lighter soak scraps of old flannel or towel in a saltpetre http://www.sausagemaking.org/acatalog/Saltpetre__500_grammes.html solution.

    :) Evening all.

I have been counting my blessings and not being stuck in a car in a load of snow is one of them.

Been to the library and found a few thingies and saw in passing David Brin's The Postman which is a post-SHTF novel which won't see you wanting to plan your own suicide. Very very good and I thoroughly recommend it.

Went to a coupla c.s. after work and added 2 unused pillar candles to the stash-ette. I'm thinking of starting an ancillary stash on the fly at the parents' home as they won't prep and have one half-used box of Prices candles from the seventies tucked up a corner. Was thinking of having a smallish box of bootsale candles and a couple of boxes household matches tucked into a corner of their back bedroom so's I could point them in their direction should the leccy get erratic. Could tell my brother they're hidden under the bed.

;) It's a very cluttered house, they probably wouldn't notice. Gotta look out for the old folks even if they won't stock up on some tinned goods despite my[STRIKE] pestering[/STRIKE] gentle encouragement.

Keep checking my email in case the library have got my book in. Yup, it's coming from out of town and I did order it just over 24 hours ago and I know I should develop patience but........:o

  • That's interesting about the wellies, I was wondering why they kept falling apart...
Wellies are of course named after the Duke of Wellington who is best known for thrashing the French so not sure what he might have made of the French taking over production. It's the time of year to get the wellies out and start getting summer veggies planted in the garden, good fun if it wasn't so cold, brrrrr.....

I LOVE this, but so wish you'd not posted it at the same time! :rotfl: I've got quite a few tins this exact size - I feel a making session coming on!!

GQ, is that the book turned into a fillum with Kevin Costner in? Often wondered if it had been a book originally.

I have some time without the smallest child in tow tomorrow, so will be tracking down some of the books mentioned previously, checking out CS for candles etc, and doing a bit of prep stock-up. HB have 18-cube boxes of a certain 3-letter brand of stock cubes at about £1.40 each, BBD about 2.5 yrs, so hoping to stock up there, too.
