i really must stop speed reading- i read this in my head as tins of lager. :rotfl:
So did I! I'm actually sat here thinking "Surely lager tins would be a bit flimsy for that?" But I thought I just wasn't OS enough to understand, LOL.
I'm getting a Mr T delivery shortly with more store cupboard goodies (coming out of our rapidly diminishing savings not gc money) and have discussed the need with DH to purchase water and matches - he's on board but I think that's as far as we go. If zombies come they can just eat my brain.0 -

Don't be daft! feed your DH to them while you make your getaway!:rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Oh my god that is a very good idea.... saves all that work digging up the patio..0

MrsL I am delighted that you are happier today, please be assured that your posts are relevant, pertinent, interesting and informative. I love this thread, it is a breath of fresh air, I have really learnt a lot already in the few days that I have been reading others' posts.
Today we are a little more prepared, DH has been using the log splitter that we ordered and received a couple of days ago (thank you for the advice Greenbee, it works a treat!) - oh dear, just realised, am advocating a gadget, bad bad me! - anwyay, I digress - to chop quite a few of the logs for the stove, we have a few days of ready wood now. If he does a few every day, by winter we should have it all split nicely and neatly. He was obviouosly enjoying himself doing the "I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK" impersonation :rotfl:even though it was really hard work!
A dear OSer friend's son, a real sweethart of a boy, came to my house to make my bike roadworthy. He spent quite a bit of time pumping the tyres, oiling the chain, adjusting bits and pieces and making sure everything works. He advised me to change the chain and said that he can fit it for me, very very kind of him. Unfortunately we could not road test it because it is raining and I am not terribly confident on the roads.
Made a promise that I did not maintain, was meant to call the AA for the two hours free driving refresher, forgot all about it. First thing Tuesday morning, that is going to go on my mobile phone reminder NOW!
Have a good prepping Bank Holiday all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I'm planning a nice comfy night sat here with some of my cookery books
I have quite a few regarding foodstorage and tons of recipes so I'm menuplanning, some with foodstorage alone for the winter (in case I can't get out to the shops) and some a mixture of fresh and stored.
I've tweaked my avatar today too as I saw a lot of people had the Keep Calm ones on Old style and I thought this one was rather fitting for me0 -

Hey CATERINA thank you for being so supportive and kind, I feel that I was too involved and close yesterday and needed a little time out before I posted something outrageous that would embarass me and all of you. The messages from you all are unbelievably wonderful and I thank each and every one from the bottom of my heart, I count myself very very lucky to have found you. I think the best thing for us all is business as normal, knowing that we don't have universal support and tolerance shouldn't change how we feel and shouldn't change our thinking. I hope very much that the critics are correct in their assumption that we are OTT and slightly barmy but I for one will carry one with my preparations for just in case it does happen, whatever the it may be!
Sleep well all, Cheers Lyn xxx and Thanks again!0
