The DM has just expanded its story on UK preppers and, of course, it's making them out to be nutters who are worried about the Mayan calender. And as for saying the woman who has been photographed to look like the mad axeman's other half is Britain's' only female prepper!!!

Of course they are always going to go for stories that make 'good television' even if what people actually would quite like to see is someone doing something we could copy. The main chap is actually quite sensible despite their best efforts to make him look like a zombie hunter
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I looked at the article about kates' hair. I Kept thinking what a nasty spiteful person that writer is. At least Kate doesn't look like the panda eyed orange clones we get here. Kate is a natural, beautiful woman why should she change that. If she was to be crowned queen at least she can change her hairstyle for the day.

OMG what are these people thinking of? The one at the end with the beard - gives his full name, how many kids he has and his hometown. So now everybody knows he has 365 days of food stored in his house and he has chickens!!

Mardatha I thought the same thing. Maybe that's why that woman thinks she is rare? None of us would be that stupid. Only my closest family knows.
  • I thought that as well, what a fool, you must never let anyone know that you have food stashed.

I agree, daft to be a self publicist on this topic I think in RL anyway. DH has agreed to buy stuff without need for
    matches
    batteries
    gas
His view is make is sustainable and don't assume we can get power back so batteries etc are short short term only. Now I wonder if he will agree to a water filtration system yet .... Am going to make him watch the Sandy Storm programs with me in the attempt to kick start his inner prepper instincts.
I want more battery back up power storage - been doing some UPS investigation at work and think I can get some fairly chunky sized ones now for relatively less money. Makes more sense as we have solar panels but storage of power for use when there is no sun is more concerning now.

Unfortunately my teenagers think Mum's "Armageddon cupboard" is a huge joke and don't see any reason not to share that joke with their friends. (Not that I have anything like the stores in those photos. They're certainly not as tidy LOL). So much for OPSEC.

The comments in the DM online were amazingly hostile, I thought.
