It's a huge book - 2 inches thick and its got a menu section where they have a menu for every day of the year!
I'm starting to fill up my wee cupboard for winter food now. Porridge, lentils, broth mix, dried veg, dried fruit, and a few tins of emergency stew & cold meat.
  • Just starting to go through cupboards and storeroom to see what needs to be used and replaced and also like MAR beginning to build stocks for the winter.

Has anyone seen MR MASH of late? my source of supply was Iceland but they don't seem to have instant mash in their shops any longer. I hope it hasn't stopped being made it is the best tasting of all the instant mashed potatoes available.

I think some of the poundstores or home bargains might have it.

I find it tasty and filling.

Currently selling for 63p, but frequently on offer at 2 packs for a pound, when a buy at least a tenners worth.
  • Thanks all, I'll try the pound shops as we don't have home bargains down here, got a B&M but I didn't see any in there last week when we went. Don't have an Asda I can reach easily either BOB, Tesco, the Co Op and W8rose, nothing else with a bus directly to them, other supermarkets entail going to town and changing busses to drive past the village and off in the other direction!

:) Just stashed 3.2 kg of broad beans in my mini freezer. Have about as many again unharvested but at 30 mins to pick and over an hour to pod, I felt I'd done enough bean-related duties today.

Lyn - Am*z*n sell similar mash . Not tried them myself but know some people who buy them and reckon they are similar to mm . I believe some of the makro type shops have Mr Mash , if you know anyone who goes to the wholesalers it might be worth a try .
Random thought , have you thought of experimenting with the dehydrator ? If you could replicate the original you could make a small fortune selling to us :D

This tickled me on Zerohedge just now:
I mean, yes, the British pound took a pounding, and no surprise. But why did this so roil markets for the Mexican peso? Did traders fear that the impact on the global marmite supply was going to unsettle economies everywhere?
