Hello All!
I too am sick of all the doom and gloom re Brexit, we're out, now deal with it and make plans for the future!
My veg patch at home looks like it will produce loads this year. I dont tend to grow cheap veg as space is used for more expensive or better tasting crops. I grow runner beans and french beans as they give so much from a little space. Looks like courgettes are going nuts even though I grew yellow ones this year which usually dont produce so many. I have dotted in the odd squash plant and pumpkin although they are yet to take off triffid style and rampage over the plot. I have always grown shallots as my pickled onions/shallots are essential to life! Often I put chillies in with them to give then extra kick! I seem to have OD'd on Tigerella toms this year, either that or miss labelled a tray full! Any way I am going to risk putting some out in the plot and praying there is no blight! I grow a few spuds, salad and earlys as I love the flavour. In a shtf garden we would need about 1/2 acre to see us through the year!!
I love growing soft fruit as it is so expensive in the shops, I have all types of currant, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, alpine strawberries, gooseberries and I may even stagger up the mountain to pick winberries if the weather isnt too foul!
I look forward to the autumn as I forage wild plums, apples and crab apples.
With my veg, yellow sticker bargains, foraging etc I think I will survive the increase in food prices if it happens!I may need to change my diet to fit the food available but that would not be a hardship. I too bottled fruit last year and it still looks fine in the jars. I have a dehydrator and need to drag it out to start preserving the rhubarb before it goes too woody. I have three v large freezers stocked right up which is ok if I am trying to survive rising prices not so hot if it is a shtf power outage. I do have a generator but it may well be too loud to use in a bad situation!
I have been increasing grains, rice, pasta etc and storing a lot in full view on a dresser in glass storage jars. I have plenty tucked away but so many people comment on my stores and how they wouldnt even know how to use them! I know in a shtf situation my dried pulses etc would at least feed us if not very exciting meals. I know in a shtf situation I will be high tailing it to the local farm feed store which stocks 20kg sacks of wheat, barley, oats etc although supposed to be for animal feed and maybe not the top grade grains but they would do!!
I hope this thread gets back to prepping whilst keeping a cautious eye on the shenanigans of the polititians and developments in leaving the EU. It would not be "prepping" if we did not ensure we knew what was happening and therefore be ahead of the game and plan to ride out any storms that may be gathering! x

Oh, I have prep envy.
At the moment I don't have my own home and I am missing the activities that I have always enjoyed at this time of year. I have always spent summer and Autumn being like a squirrel, storing garden produce, foraging, freezing, preserving, jamming, pickling and generally preparing home and family for the winter ahead.
Sadly, not this year, but I am so enjoying reading what you are all up to. Keep posting.
What about Mrs LW for prime minister. I'd vote for her.

Glad about that, Mrs LW, I shall look forward to reading your prepping posts.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Sounds like Mrs LW would be right at home up there with the Westminster set......I can see it now, John Bercow saying "I now call upon the Minister for Prepology, Doris Lurcher-Walker, to address the House..."One life - your life - live it!0

Slightly daft problem coming up .... please give feedback.
I have a dehydrator, just a littley round one, and I love it dearly, even though I haven't had the energy to use it much yet. I also *approve* of them, as has been said just today they don't need electricity once they've done their thing. I sort of can't quite believe that they're efficient enough to preserve everything. I know it is, and I've got experiments going back to last year that are fine. Its just a question of practice, isn't it2023: the year I get to buy a car0
