:) I'm fine, my lovely. Am reading a fantasy epic (14 volumes! Just finished 11th) which is taking up a fair bit of my time. Plus the pesky job and a few chores and sleeping........:rotfl:
Care to name drop - I'm always after reading recommendations. and for epic fantasy I'd recommend Katharine Kerr's Deverry cycle, 15 books in 4 acts.
I find both work and sleep interfere with my reading :(
:)I'm not even bothering to have the radio on (don't have telly) and am spending my leisure time on reading, chatting with pals, knitting and readying the allotment for the growing season.

Regardless of what the Republi-critters or Demon-rats are doing in US-landia, the spuds are going in at the end of this month, and all has to be in readiness.

:D Plus the days are lengthening, the bulbs are out, I saw primroses 3 weeks ago! I love the changing of the seasons and have seen blackbirds out on the carpark with beaks full of nesting materials, too.

I spent four hours yesterday waiting for a barn owl to put in an appearance, my luck wasn't in, but there'll be other days. I rarely suffer from boredom.
Remarkable though it may seem, The Donald is too liberal in his views for most Republicans, and that, rather than bizarre campaigning is what is likely to stop him reaching the White House even though he looks increasingly likely to be the Republican nomination. The failure of the party to get behind a more credible candidate is what has let him get this far. There is a direct correlation between negative advertising and electoral turnout (to defend the preferred and "defamed" candidate, and that is what is most likely to be driving the frenzy of support at the moment, not real support.

Its not so much remarkable as frightening (and true, as friends in the states regularly confirm) Whether there will be a credible candidate left for the party to unite round remains to be seen.
There's a lot of disillusionment with the political process which is feeding both the Trump and Sanders campaigns - whether that continues through to an election will be interesting to see, since a similar disillusionment is blamed for Jeremy Corbyn's rise to leadership.

Geek that I am, I immediately thought through my books and figured wheel of time, white wolf and sword of truth are all at 14 books...

There is the possibly the Hobb assassins/fools/elderlings books or the belgariad/malorian (If you count multiple series in the same universe and include the eddings standalones).

Money can't buy happiness. But it can buy books - and that's very nearly the same thing.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I lived in Deverry for a while, in my head at any rate :j:j:j

It's hard to express quite how disillusioned I feel with politicians, business, anyone above the middle of the hierarchy .... self interest, corruption and blatant lies.

Here's an interesting linkie that's totally divorced from UK propaganda on either side: http://www.lukas-reimann.ch/ger_details_1176/_Swiss_Parliament_decides_to_withdraw_the_application_to_join_the_EU.html

Switzerland is lapsing it's application to join the EU. Frankly, I never even knew it *had* an application, but it did. And now it doesn't, or soon won't.

And thats all I'm ever going to write on the subject :D in case I send myself to sleep :D

I haven't come across White Wolf, please enlighten me further since Google is being less than helpful.
I had considered it might be Wheel or Sword, and do consider sequential series as a series.. Since I tend to reread pre-existing works when a new novel comes out this helps keep my reading list going :)

I really like that quote, it may well get sigged.

Did you know Kit's working on another Deverry novel? Set 300 years after the existing cycle.

I believe I've now spent more time in Deverry than any other fictional world (though I'm planning a re-read of Discworld, which may tip the balance) Though I sometimes wonder just how real this world is - given my experience of it only tangentially reflects the media portrayal of it.

:) Oooh, fellow fantasy geeks, my kinda people. I always joke I have dual nationality; UK and Discworld.

It's Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, for those who are after a major blockbusting fantasy sequence.

Re the US political situation, I tend to think of Douglas Adams about Zaph0d Beeblebr0x being the best galactic president they'd ever had; the President's job being to distract public attention from the small group of people who actually wielded power, and ZB was superbly effective.

ETA; NewShadow, never a truer word spoken than about books and happiness.

We have a number of Katharine Kerr books, mostly the ones about Rhodri and Jill.(Dragonmaster? Can't remember what the cycle's called). I read several of them years ago, and enjoyed them, but in the end I found it too difficult to remember who everyone was this time and who they'd been last time round.....:o

We seem to be snowed in today- roads are blocked and according to the local Facebook page buses are cancelled . It's days like this that I'm glad of my good stock of food and milk, the bag of grit and snow shovel in the garage and all the other preparations we have made. I've learned a lot from this thread over the years so thank you everyone for your helpful advice.

    Morning all

Hubby decided to have a ly in, so didn't try and get the pigs onto the trailer this morning..

It's glorious here at the moment sun is out and blue skies, but cold...

Think they have forecasted snow for parts of south Wales, we are just below the snow line, about 5 miles up the road can have snow, and we get nothing lol.. So will see...

Our old tumble dryer is making a heck of a racket when it's on..its def on its way out.. Don't want to buy until we move in the smallholding properly, and then it will have to be a washer/ dryer due to space.. But will see how we can manage without one before we get one..

Sorry, white wolf are a fantasy/role play system publisher. Loads of different authors, but the books all published in the same universe and often sharing characters - this is the set I have sat in a box. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Champion#The_Eternal_Champion_Sequence
