using from my brain. The stone/bronze/iron ages ended but we didn't run out of material for the next age to begin.
No... but the people who didn't adopt the new technologies tended not to survive... Iron was a more effective weapon that bronze or stone (as well as more efficient for farming etc)

Greenbee my mother was Irish and I spent many holidays in Galway. I feel just as at home there as I do up here. :)
It wouldn't necessarily solve the problems that make you want to leave though...

Frugalsod - you'll find that the Icelandics and Norwegians aren't necessarily any fonder of their political classes than we are of ours... and they have their economic issues too. If they didn't have problems I wouldn't be visiting as often as I do  Maybe I should give you a list of countries I don't visit? (They probably still have problems, but may well be in denial...)

Reminds me of that old black & white film when part of London declared independence.

    Passport to Pimlico.

Oh, and it wasn't that they declared independence.

They discovered historical papers, that proved they weren't part of the UK.

Problems or not I'd rather stay in the UK where I know how the whole system works and how to deal with the problems I already have

    Me too, unless.

If I were ever really rich (as in Euromillions Jackpot rich), I'd live in Berlin, or, more precisely, in one of those beautiful cottages, in the estates, on the outskirts of Berlin.

ETA: I see you've thanked me for this post, GQ.

Does that mean you would like to come and live with me, in Berlin?

My motto is " one life live it ".....:)
  • "No they don't mean gas cookers - they mean EVERYTHING gas - including the boilers for our central heating systems".

Which is fine, until there's a power cut.

Also, what about camping stoves? Will they ban gas camping stoves too?

You would need a hell of a long extension lead, to use an electric stove, in the middle of the Brecon Beacons. :D
