I had a TV license inspector visit today and let the !!!!!! in. I showed him the TV was not plugged in and was actually set up to expect a signal from my Apple TV instead. Anyway I had a chat with him and he said that I should expect another call in two years while I claimed no live TV usage. If I were to move to let them know so that my lack of TV license could be transferred to the new address. Though next time it will not even have an aerial cable in the room. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

Same principle as with vampires "Don't invite the beggers in!"
The way the licence works (or doesn't) you would think it was compulsory to have a tv! Maybe one day they will physically wire us to the thing like "The Matrix".;)"This site is addictive!"

I think they work on the expectation that most do have a TV now, even if you are on benefits. Since most lifestyle surveys regard a TV as a basic necessity, regardless of whether you use it or not does give reasonable grounds for them to expect everyone to have one. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
One of the very best uses for TV these days is putting you off to sleep in your armchair!!!0

A great example of never giving up, whatever this troublesome world and its inhabitants throw at you.....Aung San Suu Kyi's party has just won the election in Myanmar and although she is constitutionally barred from holding any political office the quote in the paper is that she 'will be above the president', what an achievement from such a slight but indomitable woman, she has my utmost and total respect.0

Lurker popping in again here.....
I have sorted out some of my emergency cleaning/washing stock today as it was getting to overload stage.
Bottled of cleaner/fairy/washing tabs/polish/bleach.....that sort of thing.
I have been avoiding using my loft for anything as don't want to go down a hoarding route again, But.....the emergency stock is going to have to go somewhere.
Do you folk think that stuff would be ok in the loft, i'm guessing anything in cans would have to come out in the summer as it gets hot, but would the rest of it be ok up there long term..?Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
