  • Have you tried the Bristol Bottle company. They are online. It's been a few years since I used them but they were very good. A cheaper option though is just to let people know you want jars - family, friends, neighbours, work. I've found that I got carrier bags full just by asking if anyone had any empty jars I could have.

Check bags and boxes next to recycling points? Ask round at work.

If all else fails people used to suggest buying super market basic jam, marmalade or lemon curd, emptying and using the jars. They used to cost 12p but I cannot find anything less than 30p now. Which given the jar probably costs over 20p, says something.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I picked up about a dozen old jars using my freecycle deal, they were only 5 mins away and got me what i wanted for nothing.
Oh and my "Flood" book turned up today 600 pages long and not a single picture to look at, Jesus this will take me ages to get through it, wish me luck.

:p You'll love it, it'll have you on the edge of your seat and postponing bedtime to keep reading.

When I've had an excess of jamjars, I've given them away on freegle. Nearly got stampeded by those after the bonne maman fancy ones, they were like crack-cocaine.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

How do they snort the Bonne Maman jars?
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

:p Very very carefully. Besides, you smoke crack cocaine in pipes, I think. I prefer a nice cup of tea. And maybe a scone.

I wondered if they ground them up in a mortar and pestle and snorted them up a rolled up £50 note? You get that bleeding nose effect very quickly.

 Stranger things have been attempted in pursuit of a 'high'. Have just got a cuppa and another scone, and that's good enough for me.

Mine arrived today too - I started to read the first bit an hour before I started work, and had to stop - the first two pages had me in tears

I think it was a really good buy, thanks GQ!

Goodness, I don't think I'd better buy a copy after all! I'll keep a look out for it in the charity shops though. And start reading very gingerly.....
