:) Middling painful, thank you, but they're vying for attention with the tooth I broke yesterday lunchtime. I find two lots of minor woes sort-of cancel each other out, as you can't concentrate on being properly miserable about either one of them.:rotfl:

This too will pass. Will be at the dentist on Friday and think the lastest tooth woe will be a third crown to be added to the two scheduled for commencement this week.

I always joke that I have all my own teeth and I have the receipts to prove it (the back molars have been substantially-rebuilt).

Never mind. I shall go sprawl in a cool, product free bath. Being clean always makes everything else better.

Don't paint too vivid a picture about your bath GQ, you know Bob gets over-excited ;)

On a more serious note, I did wonder why all these striking laws etc. were being pushed through. Plus the snippet about the water cannon in London, though permissions were refused thank goodness. Does anyone think they are expecting trouble because of these further cuts. Folk can only take so much.:(
Not dim ;) .....just living in soft focus :p

It's alright. GQ and I share baths all the time.
  • I'm a bit of a lurker, but thought of this thread when I heard about this,a large proportion of the town was affected for over 24 hours and stocks of the "free" water ran out fairly quickly, as did some supermarkets.

It's scary how so many of us wouldn't have planned ahead for this? (I wouldn't if it wasn't for this thread!) and this isn't even serious SHTF material!

We both easily fitted in my large bath, the other week, when you left your purse on my coffee table.

:pNo one who knows me IRL would ever accuse me of leaving my purse anywhere. Just.Doesn't.Happen - am a natural skinflint.

I do have to be careful in bathtubs as there is a perennial risk of Captain Ahab yelling Thar she blows!! and coming after me with a harpoon gun.

SmarterNotHarder, great link to that site. People have no idea how fast an area can go off-supply. You don't get a memo and time to stock up. When it's gone, it's gone.

Shoebox Towers is served by an ill-tempered 5 inch watermain which ruptures every 18 months-3 years. It went late in 2014 and they had to dig it up (it's about 4 ft under the grass verge). I'm very familiar with that watermain. It sometimes cracks and seeps slowly, sometimes it just goes ka-blooey, creates a fountain and the roads run with water. A watermain at full throttle quickly causes the water to rise on that side of the block, going up to 2 ft deep in one place before it starts to flow away down the road.

Those are huge potential cuts planned - and they're called "aspirational" ... words fail me.

SmarterNotHarder - I like the name! Interesting link too, thanks for that - I do get a bad feeling about what's coming down the pike at us :(

:( Tories get their rocks off cutting back services for the hoi polloi. That's aspirational for them. Barstewards.

I am sure that there will be plenty of boy scouts looking to get their knots badge making lots of nooses.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
