Just had my first job interview in aaaages!
It went errm……….badly
The queue of earnest looking young ladies with briefcases was a bit off-putting.
I only had my shopping bag with “Grans are great” on the side but thought, never mind, at least it’s packed well with brolly, Werther’s originalsand a packet of wet wipes for unforeseen sticky situations. Sorted.
Next - into the room of doom.
When asked what drew me to work in this area I answered
“The job advert”.
Maybe not the most researched reply.
The two person interrogation squad then proceeded to ask me some more in-depth questions.
Now I was really starting to panic. Management speak wordslike empowering, enabling and enthuse were circling in my mind but all that actually came out of my mouth was
“I think it might be fun!”
Sadly, more drivel followed but at least they were both smiling as I left the room and I think I heard one of them laughing (but that might just be my paranoia).
They will let me know.
Maybe I need to work on my interview technique :rotfl:Not dim.....just living in soft focus

Someone on Zerohedge just linked to this. It's an interesting idea:

The thing is, Doveling, you were "being yourself" at the interview, by the sound of it.
Maybe the young ladies with briefcases were trying to be what they thought the interviewers wanted them to be, IYSWIM.
The interviewers will have realised you were being genuine, and will be able to tell whether the job would suit you.
So if they offer it to you, you'll know it's one you're likely to be happy in. And if not, it will be because they could tell it wasn't the job for you.0 -
I've occasionally had to interview people. The "identikit" people tend to blur into one and sometimes it's the more individual character that sticks in the mind and gets the offer. Good luck with that Doveling.0

I once turned up for an interview asking to borrow the phone to get my husband to come and fetch me as ... I'd locked my keys in the car
:o
Embarrassing enough, but then cue about 10 people trying to break into my car for me, and cries of "oh Dave's got an Astra, Dave, DAVE - THIS LADY'S LOCKED HER KEYS IN HER CAR, CAN WE TRY YOURS" :rotfl:
I couldn't get hold of OH so it ended up with one of the partners giving me a lift to a supermarket nearest my house (and not too far out of the way for him) so i could meet OH there.
I was offered the job
(what they didn't know was that i had / still have rather a reputation for locking keys in the car. Twice with DD in it strapped into her car seat )I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Oh no VJsmum, I can't imagine how horrified you must have been to realise you'd locked DD in there
Did you take the job, btw?0 -

No - but only cos it was at Heathrow and I didn't want to travel there from the Midlands.
To be honest, re DD in the car, I wasn't too bad - others were more panicked than me. Once was outside nursery and other parents and staff were fussing so much that it was better for someone to remain calm. I am generally calm in a crisis anyway. People were saying they couldn't believe I was so calm but, whilst she was crying, she was perfectly safe strapped into the seat. If she hadn't been or the situation changed, then I would have broken the glass - but breaking the glass otherwise just put her in more danger. The AA man got her out.
The second time was outside the doctors and she just slept through the AA mans visit.. It was only a few weeks after the first and he did say that it was possible that I'd end up in the AA magazine - luckily I was spared that
She thinks it's a hoot, btw.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
:rotfl: I bet she does:rotfl:0

As a Neil Young fan, the title made me grin before I'd even looked at it0
