It seems the "new look" forum was only meant to have been roled out to a small number of testers.
I do hope the team will read all the negative feedback and leave it as it is. A lot of people found it gave them a headache (me included) and those with dyslexia or Visual Stress found it virtually impossible to read.0 -

Have participated in the polls, though.
Seems to me that very few people are happy/ indifferent to it and most of us loathe it. Epic fail, lovely MSE peeps.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

People are resistant to change even if it is good for them some of the time. There is an element of "We have a design department lets use them."It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
I've had my employer totally redesign one of my major workplace tools effective this week. We like the new one better than the old and are playing happily. I work in a completely IT-centric job role, we occasionally see flat bits of dead trees and biros but we're not always sure what to do with them........ but I still don't care for the new-look forums.
Could this be MSE's 'New Coke' moment............lol.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I don't think its about resistance to change this time, though some of it obviously is. Steps that used to take one click are taking 3 or so. Functionality (a word I just learned!) is seriously reduced. Its painful on the eyes.
The locked thread thing was interesting - that wasn't particularly well done either. And the original announcement, which they're saying was made in error, is as appalling a piece of spin as you'll see this side of Peter Mandelson's paperwork.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It would double up as guest bedroom (instead of using my lounge) and emergency "2nd home" if need be. Slight snag to that being I'd need someone plus their car to tow it for me if it had to go "off site".
I was thinking more Tiny Home than caravan because of the custom-designing to maximise use of space and the higher level of insulation etc than caravans have as I understand it. But its true that a cheap secondhand caravan would be WAY cheaper than a Tiny Home and much easier to get hold of one currently...
How does this fit your needs?

I tried to check the forum on my phone earlier and the new style was completely unreadable. I don't know whether it was better on a computer but it couldn't have been worse. Have got the first installment into the ground on the lottie, more to do next weekend. If SHTF we will be self-sufficient in spuds and beans, weather and pests allowing.0

: Once everything is bone dry, I shall repaint the inside of my airing cupboard to titivate it. Can't repaint the tank cupboard as the tank is encased in a hardboard shell and you can't get around it to reach the walls to paint them.
It's a shame you're not nearer, I could give you a choice of "Bassinet", there's about 5 litres of that one, sort of an off white with a pleasant grey tinge or "Soft Cream", there's about 3 litres of that, it's like Duluxs Antique cream, kind of a warm cream
Frugalsod, I really like that caravan. In fact, it's one of the few I've seen that I do.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Have contacted the gas plumbing people; there is a split tank upstairs and the new one goes in on Thurs. The split has been temp. sealed (fingers crossed it holds) and then the water can start to dry out. Once everything is bone dry, I shall repaint the inside of my airing cupboard to titivate it. Can't repaint the tank cupboard as the tank is encased in a hardboard shell and you can't get around it to reach the walls to paint them.Place is still at sixes and sevens, but we'll get there in the end. Makes you feel very very sorry for those poor beggars who get 3-6 ft of water through their homes, where the heck would you start with the clear up?!
Hoping nuatha's MIL is comfortable. I have had a mini-stroke, and it was a terrifying experience, although most of the effects wore off in 15 mins and no permanant damage was done (they examined my head yet again, I swear the MRI scans of the inside of my head outnumber the pictures of the outside of it, in recent years).:rotfl:
Will admit flood damage is the scenario I'd least like to face. Discovering I was half blind in one eye was frightening enough. I really wouldn't want to experience a stroke no matter how mini.
MiL is more comfortable this evening, but has managed to acquire a chest infection which we could do without.0
