Here is an interesting blog about the Greek negotiations with a video response from Yanis Varoufakis.

    Interesting times...this is a translation...

Indirect but clear intervention recorded by Moscow in recent times and certainly Russia gives a bargaining " ace " in A.Tsipra these critical hours of trading after yesterday's " NO " of Greece with reportage of RT revealing that has been discussed a great financial assistance to the BRICS to Greece!

Indeed, the deputy foreign minister, Nikos Chountis met shortly before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian ambassador, Andrey Maslov and discussed the latest developments with Russian ambassador to assure the Greek minister that "The Russian Federation will support in that need to Greece."

The intervention which had revealed the defencenet.gr, was beyond the visit of the Russian ambassador, and the tribute of state information agency Russia Today disclosing that is looming financial help : " Probably from Russia or China, or other BRICS countries with much lower interest rate , " says the RT.

Titled "If the EU does not finance, Greece will turn to China or Russia," the Russia Today, the "no" of Greece notes: "Greece has at its disposal only a few days to decide whether whether to agree to extension of the EU rescue plan or whether to depart from its European partners and will seek help elsewhere, probably from Russia or China, or other countries BRICS » refers to an article of RT.

Russia Today even accommodates the view of the British diplomat William Mallinson who told the network that "The EU is nervous because he knows that Greece will look elsewhere for a better deal. Fear among others that Greece is closer to Russia, as had historically in each case. Because at the end of the day, knowing very well that it is likely to have a loan from the BRICS, probably by Sino-Russian help, with much lower interest rates. "

And at this point, the Russian network reveals that there have been discussions within the BRICS to provide financial assistance to Greece and that is not random invitation to China absent Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang, while at the same time, and both the Russian Finance Minister but Russian Foreign Minister said that Moscow did not exclude the provision of capital to Athens.

According to Mallinson, a move to China or Russia, is the only way for Greece

The BRICS (Russia, China, India, Brazil, South Africa) would love to develop close economic ties with Greece to be a gateway to Europe and seems to be willing to pay ...

The US did something similar when they decided to play hardball with Cuba over their refusal to agree to sell their bauxite etc for peanuts.

Pushed an essentially neutral, possibly US centric, country to side with "the enemy" because they would not back down.

  • Well, the bunglow across the road has been sold and has planning permission for an upper story to be added. Two days ago the demolition guys started work and removed all the roof tiles, felt etc. and today they started to take out the roof timbers.......well if you ask and they say no you're no worse off than if you hadn't asked at all, but they said YES and we've moved a whole roof across the road onto the front lawn, will definitely ache tonight, and He Who Knows is out there starting the de-nailing and chopping up. So much free wood, it's enough to see us easily through 3 months or so of woodburning next winter and the joy is that we have enough room for it in the woodstore now, oh how wonderful is that!!! So HAPPY!!!

You also saved them a huge amount in fees for disposal; so it is a winner all round.

I found this useful site, especially for American preppers.

    https://theepicenter.com

It has a lot of dehydrated food packs, and anything prepping related. So covers long term food, power and water. Medical packs and anything else to cope after a disaster. Even if you do not get anything it does give you ideas for what you might need no matter where you are.

Thank god I got a council house in the 60s when they were freely available for those who needed them. I have had far more security in the last 40+ years than any home buyer, and long spells out of work didn't mean the S hitting the F for us. I really feel bad for young people, life has got a hell of a lot harder for them.

I lived in Scotland for 17 years until quite recently and I was always amazed how easy it was for people to get a council place, even single men who were not even remotely 'needy'. Local people got greedy and bought their parents' houses for a quick profit when they passed on, so it's much more difficult now unless you are a 'problem' case. It certainly isn't so easy further south because I don't think there was ever such a high proportion of local authority housing.

:T Bravo, Lyn, opportunism at its best, and a win-win situation for the contractor, too. Take it easy with your backs, my dears.

Been out shooting things tonight, lots of jokes about shooting zombies (we are Prepared). There are some peeps out there with very ordinary jobs and very extraordinary hobbies, pastimes and skillsets. Never judge a person by their job title, it's likely to be the very least interesting thing about them.:rotfl:

1Tonsil, keeping my fingers crossed for Greece's wellbeing in these difficult times, have been to several of the islands and have fond memories of hardworking, family-oriented people (and Mythos beer :p) and hope that the country gets a break. Keep posting, please?

Righty, anyone of the gardening persuasion, is there any good reason why bog-standard garlic cloves, planted, shouldn't go on to make more garlic? I have a glut of garlic from the Magic Greengrocer and some of them have just started to sprout. Haven't grown it before, was going to treat it like onions and just poke a hole in the ground and leave it with the top sticking out, is this correct form?

  • it is my shtf now

Just one message to say that my husband died today, he never came home. My priorities have changed. I don`t know where to start. I have been busy since I knew at 5 pm and I am still making myself busy but now I have to inhabit another thread, about practicalities

    My shtf came here today
  • GQ, I bury it about half and inch below the surface and it comes up ok. No reason you can't recycle ordinary garlic although the garlic you buy as seed garlic is supposed to be free from viruses and things.
