You can make a handy log store with pallets; one of the base, one for each side and one for the roof, topped with a tarp or something like that.
If plans hold firm, I shall be pootling around a carboot sale this weekend, keeping an eye out for pretastic things, or just books which I might like to read. Had my nose in a book on the history of the longbow yestereve; these things have been around for millennia all over the world. A very efficient technololgy.
There was also an anecdote about how a bloke who was already an archer who found himself at an archery competition sans bow but wanted to take part. So he cut a hazel stave from the hedge, borrowed a bowstring and some arrows, and managed to compete and come half-way up the scorecard with his stick.:rotfl:
Incidentally 'sticks' are the slightly-mocking nickname for longbows, as used by other archers, who mostly shoot recurves and occasionally compound bows. Geezer next to me at archery last week was what I call a gear-nut with a compound bow and kept running his mouth about this accessory and that sight etc etc and was genuinely baffled that people using 'sticks' with no sights and no accessories can shoot just as well as his state-of-the-art kit. It's called skill, duuuuudeee.
ETA You sarky beggar, Bob! I hadn't taken my medication at that point. Definately NOT coming to visit you this Sat in my Maid Marian costume.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just been reminded that not all S*** is the fault of politicians and bankers.
We went to the hospital for scan results for DH and came home in shock. We find out next week if treatment is possible for him after the surgery and radiotherapy he had last year.
His first thought is to protect our family and does not want me struggling to keep a big house and garden so we will have to downsize as quickly as we can so I can manage the upkeep and bills. We all love our home but he needs peace of mind so we are doing whatever is needed. I always thought we would see out our days here together, him pottering in the garden and me cooking and making him cups of tea.
Oldest DD is considering moving her wedding forward as we don't know how DH will be in six months.
Middle dd is buying her first house this summer so looks as if she will have some furniture that will not fit in new place.
Trying to be practical and not let him see me cry.
Hug to all.

Just been to pay my rent, and discovered I've made a mistake somewhere along the way, but, for a change, this is a good mistake.
Seems I've overpaid somewhere along the line, meaning, following today's payment (which I elected to pay anyway), I'm in credit through to the first week in October. :cool:0 -
