Can you get Calor gas freezers?

I've seen propane freezers in the US, where people have them for their RVs and log cabins and stuff. There must be somewhere that sells them in the UK. They aren't cheap though.

:) Dunno, but there's a Yorkshire Andy on UK Preppers mentioning he has a LPG fridge which will run for 2 weeks on a 7kg LPG gas bottle. Worth checking out? P. 449 of What preps are you doing this week thread. Does the RV have diabetic meds which need a fridge?

I lived for 3 years in a bedsit which was fridgeless and it was a PITA. Wish I knew about zeer pots back in the day. I'm looking for suitable pots 2nd hand to have ready, and the sand, in case of need. Can store them easily enough on the rack in my bike shed. And, like all the best preps, they can sit there minding their own business looking innocous until needed.

    LPG freezers and fridges.
Find a caravan breakers yard, its generally the cheapest way to source an LPG fridge. I'm informed that modern caravans are more likely to have mains only fridges, but these shouldn't be turning up in breakers yet.
If your lucky you should be able to find a three way fridge, mains 12V and LPG, which you could easily run off solar for part of the time and extend your gas usage.

You're more likely to find a three way freezer in a boat breakers or chandlers - they get used to keep bait frozen by fishermen/

  • I'm just listening to the lunchtime news regarding the Malaysian plane shot down over Ukraine, I'm getting the distinct impression that politicians all over the world are more than paying political lip service to this event, the rhetoric is getting to be stronger than I can remember ever before against Russia. I hope everyone keeps thier heads and stays factual and doesn't let emotions run too high. I don't like this AT ALL and I do think there must be some redress from the russian government and the ukrakian seperatists, this is too unaccetable to let lie and the world needs answers. Don't we live in interesting times?

 Send the life raft, we're in such a thunder and rainstorm that the water is coming up and over the kerbs' a wee bit higher and it'll be advancing across the pavement and heading for my door..............

ETA: rock & roll, it's very exciting, neighbours are hanging out in doorways and watching out of the windows, and there are shrieks of laughter from some youngsters who got caught outside in the rainstorm and could only get wetter by jumping in the river.

We're having a lovely hot sunny breezy day here, I hope all is well GQ and it goes off. I just wanted a Calor freezer, so I could use it to save meat if we get powercuts in bad weather. :)

:( That's the type of SHTF you can only sorta prepare for. As an aside when did low level sockets become the norm & why? In order to save a few feet of copper?

Currently it means I can't keep a lot of expensive meat in the freezer in winter so that sort of bugs me :) If I get snowed in then I can't get more either. We manage though, it was just an idea.

Copper is one of those things that is not too plentiful in reserves, so I guess it may only be a few feet, but if it's a few feet on every socket in every new build home, that adds up to substantial amounts of an increasingly expensive commodity.

We're currently 26 degrees plus here and it's like a furnace outside and I've just dragged a very reluctant lurcha around his afternoon walkies dashing from one patch of shade to the next. He's now flat out on the carpet in front of the fan, and there's not room for Moi!!!
