Just put the car through its MOT test, and I'm pleased to announce it passed, without needing so much as a bulb. :j

So, I've used the cash I had put aside, to cover any repairs, to treat myself.

Treating yourself is always good especially when you can do it without breaking the bank and can motivate yourself for the next objective. Congratulations.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

Iraq is looking a bit worrisome. New oil crisis on the horizon? Funny how so many people were sensing that something was about to erupt.

And speaking of erupting, tomorrow is Friday 13 and the Daily Wail is forecasting Armageddon from a Coronal Mass Ejection

It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

    I agree.

Treating yourself, once in a while, is what makes life worth living.

If the sky remains clear tonight, I'll have a drive into the local countryside, and take a few moon photos.

Should be good pictures, as it's a full moon tonight.

:D I knew it was a full moon. Saw it nearly full on Tues evening plus the calls coming into my workplace have been from the outer orbits of the sanity galaxy.

Shoebox Towers is seething like a kicked ant-hill. Hot and cold running bobbies, wigged-out-on-drugs neighbours being carted off in handcuffs, someone running amok with a big knife, SuperGran and the crowd on The Far Side being driven to distraction. I've had the Polis in my flat looking for my neighbour (and no, they weren't secreted on the premises:p) and I was kept awake most of last night by carousing students and mating cats.

 Or possibly by mating students and carousing cats, it's all a bit of a blur after the dozenth night of sleep deprivation.:rotfl:

I do hear that there are things called 'soap operas' where people with normal lives watch actor-people pretending to have melodramatic lives, usually with lots of shouting and screaming and general carrying-on. We don't have much truck with soap operas down here, as the neighbours provide all that for free on a daily basis.

Tell ya, if I had booze on the premises, I'd be tempted to have a strong G &T and an early night - try to get a bit of sleep in the hour or so after the students shut up and before the cats start caterwauling.

Bob, nice one with the camera, may you enjoy the use of it. Good to spend the money on something fun rather than something boring.

Honestly, Greyqueen, I bet you wish at times like this that you had a drawbridge and portcullis and could shut the whole bally world out!

:) That's a kind offer, but I am a conni (can't spell, lol) of earplugs and have plenty, plus I have industrial ear-defenders looped over the bed post for when earplugs alone are insufficient.

I rolled in just before 4 pm to find my answerphone full of messages, mostly from SG. I can't tell you what's been said to me and mine today, of course, but some people have been doing absolutely BONKERS things in this city today and are in big big trouble now we've found out about them.

Anyone read the Daily Wail? I assure you me and mine could top any of those stories, any day of the week. Stuff so bonkers that it's bordering on fatal. I do wonder sometimes if having been a long way from the survival of the fittest has fatally-contaminated the gene pool with absolute idjits. Do The Darwin Awards have a website? I feel in need of distraction from RL right now.

    Oh, they do. Browsing on................

Not caught up with all the thread as have been AWOL recently as have been busy with gardening and kids.

BB well done on the MOT, did the nail biting thing ourselves today and our car also passed yay! Was going to leave the savings in the bank, but may now invest in some preppy items or a little treat lol.

Glad to see some protesters sorting those homeless spikes things by pouring concrete over the top :T, there but for the grace etc....

The sun looks to be flaring big style at the moment, but the effects when the flares hit can vary so much. Would be nice to get some northern lights in lower latitudes, but not at the expense of widespread issues.

On the subject of those water cannons I see Boris has agreed to be hit with one, I say line all the mps up and give them all a go live on telly. Bet it would be the highest rated tv show in history lol.

:( Have just had another call from SG. One of the drug-crazed nutty neighbours carted off in handcuffs not 5 hours ago is now back again. And drunk. And carrying on. We were sure they were going to be kept in overnight.:(

SG is quipping grimly that if they won't keep them up at the psych hospital, perhaps the rest of us should cab up there and ask if they have a nice quiet ward where we could play a few hands of gin rummy and get an early night.

I feel very sorry for our housing officer who will have all this land on their plate tomorrow. They don't earn that much more than my grade, compared with the amount of aggro the have to deal with. At this rate, shelf-stacking will start to look like a rewarding career option.

ALI, perhaps they could try to replicate those water cannon injuries where eyeballs get blasted out of eye sockets?

Just a quick hello to anyone who remembers me on this thread. I left for Thailand and worked there for eight months, but have now returned to my home in Greece again. We thought that the S was going to hit the fan with the political situation and left in good time to avoid the military coup.

To cut a long story short, my husband was ill with his back and a reaction to medication and they withdrew insurance cover due to his age. In breach of what they promised us before I took the job . One of many promises they broke.T o add insult to injury I had a boss from hell to contend with.

I am glad we left when we did. I had an amazing time in Thailand and loved the Thai people, they were wonderful, always smiling and happy with their lot in life. I also came back a Buddhist!

I have returned to prepping since I got back to Greece and my stocks are back up to where they were before we moved to Thailand.I have a strong feeling that we are on the verge of something very big happening all over the world, and it won't be good....

Hope you are all well and busy prepping. Do the old regulars still come on here or has there been a vast change of personalities?

Yay 2tonsils is back :). I wondered how it was going, sounds like an adventure. I agree with you that it kind of feels like we are bouncing along the bottom economy wise, but one day that bottom may turn into a cliff we all fall off. I used to enjoy reading the truth about greece from yourself as opposed to the sanitised version beeb et al spew out.

Busy growing as much as we can in the garden and saving for a log burner, seriously plenty of indications that there will be a serious power crisis sometime soon in the UK.

    Keep prepping ev1
