:jHad a lovely gift today, one of our neighbours has just had a tree taken down and have given us the logs for the wood burner, they won't be ready to use for another year to eighteen months but they have been gratefully accepted
I am keeping a look out for anyone who has logs in their front gardens or skips because every little helps as they say:jBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Pathetic. The fines are far too low and all they become is a cost of doing business for the banks. I suspect that the fines are well below the profits that they made from rigging the market. Until the fines are far more than the profits gained from the criminal act they will simply carry on regardless and just pay the fines if ever caught. :mad:It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
PP, catching up with the thread, I've heard of cars being used as solar-powered dehydrators by putting the fruit/ veggies on trays, preferably mesh trays, below the front and rear screens.
Thing is, you'd need to have a couple of windows cracked open to allow the humidity to escape and thus would need to fix some fine fly-screening over the gap to prevent the feelthy little beggars alighting on the produce.
I found searched on Knowledge Weighs Nothing; try putting 'hanging solar food dehydrator' into Amazon. There's a sort of mesh cabinet with hangind shelves. Very makeable, I would have thought.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GQ, is this a possibility for your surplus beans? There seem to be loads of recipes on the interwebs.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Could be an option for the runners which haven't even been planted yet, but the ones preoccuping me atm are the broad beans. Don't know if they go for chutney.
But thanks for the reminder to start planning where the runners and the french beans are to go - I need to clear a bit more ground for those.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I came across this website that might help you GQ:

I remember my granny used to do this with runner beans when I was a child, and they were always nice when we ate them later in the year.0 -
I just found this on PP which might interest you guys. Interesting tip about setting 'home' on your satnav to a nearby petrol station:
