Found this online it is the data base of every company that has had access to our hospital data for the last 10 years without our permission, thus they have breached data confidentiality. There are an awful lot of US and private health companies in there :mad::mad::mad::mad:

    http://www.hscic.gov.uk/media/13787/Register-of-approved-data-releases/pdf/Published_Version_Data_Releases_Register_v1.0.pdf

As the law stands at the moment, the Health and Social Care Act 2012 provides a legal basis for the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) to require confidential data when directed by the Secretary of State for Health or by NHS England. The Act overrides the common law duty of confidentiality to seek patients' consent.

As a result of public reaction, and a Parliamentary HOC Health Committee, some changes have been promised, to tighten up restrictions on those who have access to the data and for what purpose. Results will be made public by the autumn.

Meanwhile I have had a heated debate with a friend who can see no harm in it as 'they use the results for medical research', says I am being paranoid, and implies that I am selfish having the opt out code against my records. I may relent but not until such time as the 'witnesses' in that parliamentary session are satisfied that we are not being sold down the river/led by the nose/having the wool pulled over our eyes.

For anyone interested in the latest info on the care.org situation, I've just received medConfidential's latest newsletter, to which you can subscribe.

Sorry nothing to do with TSHTF (unless the manager knows something we don't ).
    That's it.

Soon it will apparently be possible to transfer money from mobile to mobile. What if you are out on a bender* and put in the wrong mobile number? I have slight numerical dyslexia, often see numbers in a string in the wrong order. I doubt I'm alone. Ringing the wrong number is a pain. Paying the wrong person is a mistake of a different order.

*PS I don't have a drink problem, don't want to give the wrong impression LOL

Si Clist so sorry to hear about your wifes treatment, being 'frequent flyers' often at the mercy of our NHS we have been really fortunate to see and experience it mostly at it's best.

Greenbee interesting about your neighbours girl, good on her! I try not to write anyone off as I believe we're all capable of turning our lives around with the right support but sadly some have a greater sense of self destruction than others.

Nuatha/Lyn I do agree my parents lived a frugal life so we might experience a less hard upbringing..I have tried to strike a balance to suit the life we need to live with the boys issues (so they have to have some comfort/luxuries ) with frugality in other areas so that they may have these things.

In other words me and OH lump it and they get spoilt lolol no not really...but I do see where you are coming from.

My husband comes in from a day at work and a neighbour who has just got up knocks for cigs he just worked hard for..he looks at me and says who's the mug???

Again it comes back to mindset doesn't it..

You are preaching to the converted here. I was watching a Japanese programme about dementia and they were saying the increase can't just be explained by detection rates or people living longer. Ditto for illnesses like cancer imo.
I won't have WIFI in the house or a DECT 'phone. Probably hopeless though as we are probably all in a WIFI smog - though I note there is a movement to get WIFI out of schools.
As for smart meters it seems British Gas in particular is rolling them out as fast as it can.

According to the link, EU legislation states that 80% of homes should have smart meters by 2020.:eek::eek:
