PINEAPPLE It's just sabre rattling and brinkmanship, with Russia and the USA both showing the world how big their muscles are and puffing up their feathers to make themselves look bigger and more intimidating. It will sort itself out, neither of the powers is so affluent as to be able to take on the other, hard words but hopefully not hard blows!!! Lyn xxx.0

I know I should, as a prepper, but I haven't been watching the news lately. Can someone tell me whats going on with Russia etc?? and why are they/did they go/take over the other countries??
Should we be worried??? the last thing I heard about Russia was they were holding the Olympics...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Brief resume of Ukraine situation.
Ukraine needed money. Russia offered credit and cheap gas on condition that Ukraine doesn't make any deals with the EU. South and East Ukraine strong links with Russia and Russia has its navy based there. North and West want to stay independent Ukraine and forge closer ties with EU. Pro Russian president kicked out and asking for help from Russia.
That is my understanding of things, maybe others can add more? One life - your life - live it!0 -
Its to do with the Ukrane CTC, and people are getting worried about the gas pipeline that run's all the across the country.hth£71.93/ £180.000

thank you for explaining... so worsed case scenario Russia can turn the tap off on the gas pipe that feeds Britain??
Which wasn't this one of the concerns when it was being don't? also there is a cartoon of someone turning the gas pipe off on the intros of Have I got news for you...
Even if they don't turn the pipe off etc and stop or slow down supply to the uk, do you think that this might be another excuse to put the price of gas up? with the big companies saying they got to find or plough money into updating gas from around Britain... and another reason why they should be fracking for gas????
Or am I going a bit OTT on this lol
we don't have gas, BUT if this scenario etc did happen then gas users in the uk would be poopedWork to live= not live to work0 -

It's not just gas users. As Bedsit Bob pointed out, maybe 40% of our electricity comes from gas. (Big users like power stations are shut down first in a shortage, as to shut off homes is dangerous when the gas comes on again.)
Regarding energy prices, I think it might be prudent to get a long fix, (as I did recently.)
Edit: When the lights start going out, hopefully someone will realise the folly of knocking down functioning coal fired power stations.0 -
Not just gas users CTC,we also have gas powered electric power station's , so other's like myself who are all electric are stuffed[ not enough profit to bring the main's gas into the village]£71.93/ £180.000

Thank you.... didn't think about the power stations run on gas etc..
In your personal opinions.. how high do you think the possibilitie of this happening? or do the government know what would happen to our countries energy supplies if they start trying to intervene or say the wrong thing to Russia on this??
It really does show how vunrable sp? our country is, on relying on other countries for our most basic stuff... same with food.... I honestly don't know if we as a country is self sufficient in any of our food produce??Work to live= not live to work0
