Coming out of lurkdom to offer sympathy to you Siegemode on your sad loss. From one cat lover to another.0

I've just found a note in my desk (which belonged to my grandfather, and it's in his writing) saying 'Buchan's weather spells' and then listing dates for warm and cold weather.
Do any of you know anything about them?0 -

OK time for me to come out of lurkdom and 'fess up. I only buy a four-pack of loo paper at one time, and wait till there are only one or at the most 2 rolls left before I buy another one
AND I don't like FB pies  I am not sure what is in them, and the pastry is slimy :eek::eek:
But I do grow and cook stuff(I am good at pies
)
Lovely day today, got the washing dry outside, cleaned out the chickens and moved some plantsCan't wait to get going on the veg garden, but it is a bit wet and cold here yet.
So sorry to hear your news Siegemode. It is heartbreaking that they don't live as long as we do, isn't it0 -
So sorry about your little cat, siegemode. ((((((hugs)))))Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.Oliver Sachs 20150

SIEGEMODE I've only just now checked in to read and I'm so sad for you, to lose a friend after being together and loving each other for such a long time leaves a huge gap and such sadness for the friend left behind. Time does accustom you to the loss but it will be raw for a while I know. You had unconditional love for each other and she will still love you even though you are no longer able to be together at the moment. She had a loving home and a caring and responsible owner and you can't give more than that to an animal friend that you love, especially if she had a rocky start to her life with another family. You have given her the best life it was possible to give and I'm sure you made her as happy as she made you. As long as you love and remember her you'll never ever lose her, she'll always be part of your life and will ALWAYS love you, she's just a breath away and loves you still!!! Hugs Lyn xxx.0

Oh, yes Mrs LW has reminded me of a lovely story I read in the Mail a few years ago:

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and hugs. Our kitties have been as important as the human members or our little family, perhaps even more so at times. Dictating the rules to us :rotfl:
Today we have tried to distract ourselves, but keep stopping to share the memories we both have that made her so unique and special. For a little kitty she had such a big and wise personality. If you needed her she knew, she was rarely intrusive or demanding unlike her brother bless him. She was gentle and just knowing she was close was enough to ground you or calm you.
I read my earlier post to OH and kept breaking down, but in a good way. It has been and is therapeutic to share this difficult time with you all and I feel by posting her picky on here it kind of makes her immortal iykwim. I think her spirit returned home with us because a few things have moved or fallen for no reason today. Perhaps she's trying to tell us that she's still looking over us. I know some will think I'm being ridiculous or sad, but if you are spiritual you'll understand. I swear I still see or am aware of her brother walking by at times and he passed away 3yrs ago.
On the TP front, 3 sheets:eek::eek::eek::eek: We've just broken into the last 100 rolls and I'm anxious:rotfl:. OH prefers charmin or is it cushelle? keeping an eye out for offers to stock up again.
Kittie thanks for sharing the weather info, it's certainly appreciated here.
The importance of the internet as mentioned by Broomstick is something I think about often and my reliance on it and maybe addiction to it
Being restricted at home and without a social circle or work colleagues to chat with I rely on the internet to keep me informed. If I have a question, curiosity or need to shop it's there. I love my books and cd's and dvds as they are my back up and security, but space is a real issue and there's little room for much more in a small house (especially with a TP mountain, a kitchen roll mountain and as for the range of gther peaks, well you can imagine)
I rely on the internet for so much information and education as to what is really happening in the outside world and when OH turned the router off to see if he felt a difference in energy (and he claimed he did) I felt panic and fear, suddenly I had been disconnected from the world:eek: With so much information being shared I feel it's only a matter of time before those in power restrict services to protect themselves once again. Therefore I'm making the most of it whilst we still can. The router was only off for an hour max, in a prolonged power cut or loss of service going cold turkey would be a nightmare.0 -

Oh, don't dismiss hubby's feeling SM. Orange sent me a new Bright Box to replace my old Speedtouch, and it gave me a headache even with the wireless signal switched off. I have now gone back to the Speedtouch. As I mentioned to GQ a few weeks ago, it has the added advantage of not using any power when my computer is off.

(I can't use mobile phones for the same reason, and even my freeview box lives in a steel case and is switched off at night.)
Edit: It just occured to me that a Speedtouch modem plugged into a laptop working on batteries would continue to work in the event of a power cut.0 -
Siegemode more virtual hugs from here and the pictures are beautiful.
We have become conditioned to having a huge amount of physical goods in historical terms and personally I have inbuilt hoarding tendencies that I have to try to rein in (not always successfully). If we had more space we would only collect more [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] useful prepping material to fill it. This has been posted before but because I like it here's another link to George Carlin on "stuff"
