  • :grouphug: Thanks for the leap of faith re the forecasts, you know by now that accuracy isn`t 100% but this month and march are 80% + so keep an eye on when I post on the winter thread

I dislike the use of the word charlatan etc but have to say that I understand where he comes from and he is an absolute genius astrophysicist, so isn`t perfect out of his focus. Trouble is that the climate change `scientists` have a hypothesis and are making the evidence fit the hypothesis, whereas hypothesis should be evidence based. In the meantime, tax sucking quangos are having a field day and certain people and companies all over europe are getting richer and richer at our expense

Dh went on his long cycle ride today instead of with his club tomorrow, he follows everything I pass to him about the forecast and has already planned some dates in march accordingly

My life these days, since abandoning you: relaxed and lovely as I have learnt how to spin and I spin a LOT. Will be joining guild this year so making new friends. Am growing my grey hair and am in the throws of in between and finding it hard but (LW) am sticking with it. Who cares at my age anyway, I will soon look the spinner part. I have loads of stashed yarn and need octopus arms as I cannot knit fast enough. Loads of basic lovely wool yarn spun, romney, jacob, bfl, merino etc and will soon be on quality fibre like bamboo and silk blends with merino

Am not stashing more food at the moment as cupboards are full and have full stocks of alternative cooking fuels. Food will be in short (or expensive) supply I think as worldwide weather problems hit. Allotmenteering will be basics from now on, veggies that I can preserve, pickle, brine, dry etc no fancy or difficult stuff as we may well have very intense bursts of heat in summer, not sure yet. I have no worries about soil fertility via manure or artificial means as I grow comfrey (bocking 14) but I am worried about bumble bees as they are getting ill

    siegemode, lots of hugs xxx

Oh Siegemode (((hugs))) I know exactly how you feel as we lost our precious boy two weeks ago and I still expect to see him on the back of the sofa. We have 3 other cats but the house still seems empty.

We bought some cat mint and are going to plant a bed up for the other cats to enjoy.

Last weekend the tree in the front garden suffered irreparable damage in the wind so we chopped it down and have replaced it with a Charles Ross apple tree in memory of our Charlie Cat - it makes me smile every time I see it and in time we will have apples for eating, cooking and making cider courtesy of Charlie.

ETA, Siegemode, she is beautiful x

Have added to the Armageddon stores today.

In Reading we have a Home Bargains on one out of town park and a Family Bargains and a brand new B&M on another park not too far away so I have visited all 3 today and added some more FB pies, various tinned meats and meals and a couple of bottles of beer which I'm drinking whilst watching the rugby

Oh, by the way: one person's "welfare" is another person's "subsidy" to enable them to pay their shareholders.

Yes the biggest benefit recipients are those that have lobbied for subsidies.

  • {{{Hugs}}} Seigemode. There are no words that will help, but lots of us here will be thinking of you with sympathy over the next few days.

Kittie very glad you have come to join us on the Dark Side, but silvering locks are not a necessity - although they'd spin up to a lovely colour, come to think of it - I may be knocking on a bit but can only display a handful of silver hairs, and my two DDs can both spin, and one regularly does (and demonstrates, in public) and she's just 21.

For anyone who doubts that you can spin human hair, it's the only fibre that the Aussie Aborigines spin, and it's spun & used in garments in the Andes - I know because I've just attended a talk on Andean fibres & textiles! Very inspiring; you should see (and touch) what they can do with the most basic tools. Fabulous garments, soft, amazingly warm & drapey, in amazingly complex weaves, all done with fluff, plant dyes & a few sticks. The tools may be basic but the skills are awesome.

I think there's more to it FS, I think pensioners are next in the firing line and the govt are reloading as we speak. This is the softening up bit, separating out the pensioners just like they did the unemployed and sick.

I have been wondering about this Mar. There seems to be alot of the mainstream media pandering to the idea that there is this mass of unemployed claiming all the benefits. This seems to play up to the image many of the older generation have of "benefit claimants" and unfortunately unlike many of the more mature on this thread and in OS as a whole there is a massive chunk of that gen who rely on auntie beeb as there main source of info.

Its a kind of divide and conquer. Split all of "us" into smaller groups and turn us against each other then gradually hit each group till we are all screwed over.
