Wind is picking up a bit, but it's still dry and quite warm.
No heating on, and my Living Room is at 60.4f. :cool:0 -

Hope it's not the calm before the storm, unusual for the NW to escape the wrath of god stuff!0 -
It's possible to get electricity from your landline phone socket, in an emergency.
Weather isn't too bad here, despite being 600+ feet above sea level. Wind is gusting occasionally, but nothing too serious. Hope everyone stays safe.0 -

I expect the broken-backed polytunnel on the lottie next to mine is a gonner. Been up 6 months, required re-inforcement after its first week, and then again a few weeks later, and has been busted up and repaired several times since.
I did try to tell them that putting it broadside to the prevailing wind on the side of a hill wasn't a good idea but, hey-ho, they went ahead. They must have learned by now the reason why there aren't any greenhouses or polytunnels on my part of the lottie site.Hope my lottie shed is OK. It was re-felted and had new bargeboards in September and will have to take care of itself until New Year.
Can't get over Wild Thing refusing to go outside. You normally can't get that blessed critter indoors for most of the year, she looks like a Norwegian Forest Cat and acts like her nickname. If she's decided that it's the weather to hide indoors, I'm concerned about how bad it'll get tonight.
Parents have a plantation of very tall trees just beyond the foot of their garden. If they fell towards the house, they'd hit it. The last major fall was the Great Storm of 1987, when a chunk of them came down like skittles, but went sideways and not towards the houses. Fingers crossed they'll weather the storm.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Lost a good sized chunk of garden fence at tea time. Things seem to have quietened down (temporarily?). The wind's supposed to pick up again later so I doubt that our temporary repairs will hold.
Am hoping our next door neighbour is away for the week and we can just leave sorting out repairs until the New Year or until the weather has settled.
