  • Hi Hollyberry - love your user name! Thankyou for your positive thoughts, I appreciate it. RAS I get to argue my case on Monday, so shall try and get that over. My caseload does roll over, but I just don't think I can do a less-than-good job with people - I'd rather work properly with less people than be ineffective with many. I also have to think about my professional integrity - I think longer term i'm going to have to move on which is a shame as I love this job. Unfortunately to have more control i'd need to move up in the organisation, and takes me away from front-line working which I don't want. Shall ponder it over the weekend.

Better to be safe when the weather turns Bob x

    True, but 150 quid.

I've bought cars for less than that.

On a different note, I'm replacing my water carriers.

I've bought a couple of 25L, rigid polyprop containers.

Just hoping for an hour or two of dry weather tomorrow, so I can cut the timber for the stillage.

Quality varies a lot too, as does how much of each vitamin is in each. I have bought some before only to find they include about 4 vitamins and not very much of them. It's worth reading the labels carefully. Some cheap ones use the less bio available types too apparently. It's a minefield when you start looking into it.

Went into Home Bargains today and picked up 2 tiny torches with 7 LEDs, including batteries for 99p each, going in the cars (along with the one in my handbag). Plus a 72 LED hanging worklight (again including batteries) for £3.49.

    I think I have a torch fetish :o

Fukushima is in the news again today:

They are just preparing to remove the fuel rods from reactor 4. The other reactors are too radioactive to go near because the nuclear core has melted out the of the bottom, and there is no technology to retrieve them.

This with the prospect of further earthquakes, and further tidal waves!

Isn't it time the whole place was encased in an enormous concrete sarcophagus similar to Chernobyl, to protect it?

jk0, Chernobyl's in a zone that's fairly safe from earthquakes, and a long way from the sea. Concrete is brittle; it could easily crack under the kind of stress that causes rocks to fracture, and the weight of it alone might just dislodge a fuel rod or two & cause the dreaded chain reaction. It also doesn't stand up well to seawater over time, and there's plenty of that there. It's a nightmare situation that's compounded by the Japanese imperative to save face & say that all is well even when it patently isn't. And the 7th Cavalry (or the nuclear equivalent, if any) can't very well rush in, guns blazing, to save the day, unless they're invited to...
