  • Try and get in a few things that only need hot water to make them edible/drinkable like cuppasoups, pot noodles, inst cappucinos, hot choc sachets

God himself couldn't make Pot Noodles edible. :p

According to the daily Wail eating chocolate will stop your hair going;) grey!

Darn!! As someone who noticed a grey hair at 25 (thought my streaks were lasting well) I obviously wasn't eating enough chocolate.

    Now they tell me

Another AF delivery arrives next week, mainly stuff like chopped tomatoes, dried peas, gravy and found some soda crystals and washing powder as well.

Glad we got tree around the house cut down a couple of years ago but wish DH would move the car from under neighbour's overhanging tree.

Please can a long-time lurker pick your collective brains?

First - does anyone have recommendations for a good small light-weight torch that I could keep in my handbag? I've got torches and candles in places where I can find them at home, but nothing for if I was out and about.

    Thanks everyone.

I have a tiny LED torch that is about 2 inches long and pen size in diameter, it has 7 little LED'S in a circle and is amazingly bright for it's size. Bright enough to walk in the dark down a country lane with. £1 from my local poundshop, on the counter near the tills.

I only just caught up about this storm - though those of us oop north might fare a bit better than the southerners. Dear me - if it hasn't rained enough the past few days! I was caught up in a torrrential downpour in the car last night and it was fearsome.
Fortunately everything that was loose has already come adrift (we hope). Pineapple was trying to convince herself that the chimney cowl - which was leaning drunkenly to one side one day - wasn't leaning drunkenly the other way the next. Anyhow she recently found some debris put to one side on the lane - and yes her cowl was no longer there! She furtively scooped it up into a carrier bag just in case anyone had their car or head dented and was looking for someone to blame. Fortunately everyone and everything is fine. If anyone should mention it, Pineapple will deny she ever had a cowl! :D

Re the small torch question, I have a few from W!lkionson, couple of quid each, steel casing, LED, 3 or 4 inches long, quite powerful and lightweight. Also have 2 from the same place that are glow in the dark - the casing glows after exposure to light, quite useful if they've been in the room when the power suddenly goes cos you can see 'em! :rotfl:

My coin tins are looking healthy again, and have been stealthily withdrawing a little extra each time I'm at the bank, just as a little buffer you understand, not that I'm remotely paranoid or owt....:D
