I read the other day that polycotton items don't get really clean unless the water is over 65 degrees C. I have put mine on at 75 since then, and they are cleaner.

My shirts get two consecutive washes, at 95 degrees.

First one uses a scoop of Wizz Oxi Powder and a measure of Laundry Gel.

As soon as the wash is completed, I wash again, with just the Laundry Gel.

My shirts come out looking like they are brand new.

• Re Butterfly Brains last post, email I just received just adds insult to injury. It's seems the S won't HTF for MP's any time soon:

"Within weeks David Cameron will be making a decision on the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority recommendation for a 11% pay rise on MPs' salaries.

Initially the pay rise was meant to come with the scrapping of expenses (they use our taxes to pay for their daily meals, travel, expenses for second homes and duck ponds etc) but now they are demanding the pay rise whilst keeping their expenses intact. All the while they are cutting benefits for vulnerable families, freezing salaries for our most loved nurses and sacking the police we need to keep our communities safe.

The British people can't take much more of this, the blatant stealing from the poor to give to the rich is getting out of hand and it's clearly apparent that the current government are also silencing mainstream media to keep important changes from us.

We, the British public are part of a democratic society and need to express our disgust at the proposals to yet again, give bonuses and pay rises to those who not only don't need them, but don't deserve them!

Please sign this petition and share with your family and friends, don't be complacent and believe this will all go away, or that it's too late; it's never too late to use your voice.

Much love and support to everyone who is struggling due to the actions of this Government.
"

There's a petition on Change.org, for what it worth. (I've taken the email at face value, not researched the background, think they're quite capable of such double standards)

Signed and I have also signed the one to renationalise all utilities here

What is chocolate? :(
• Nice alarmist article by AEP in the Telegraph today:
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/finance/ambroseevans-pritchard/100025913/citi-forecasts-greek-devastation-unstoppable-debt-spirals-in-italy-and-portugal/
although even AEP who isn't above a bit of "jazzing up" the story says he doesn't endorse it.
(If anyone can't read the Telegraph articles because of their "you have reached your article limit this month" thing you do know that you can get past that by clearing the cookies in your browser cache, yes?)
A good foraging day today, about 5lb of pears foraged from a local abandoned orchard (it's not scrumping or morally dubious if the orchard hasn't been maintained or the crop picked by the owners in years in my book) followed by some successful YS foraging in the local T4sco :rotfl:
Mardartha, I love your spooky story :eek:

Me as well. Am seriously thinking bout getting mobile phone cover in vivid colours to see if will help me lose it less.

Mind you its not the only thing I lose. Once found the TV remote in the fridge.:rotfl:

Purse in the fridge, of course. I mean where else would you keep it?

I think I must have had it in my hand and placed it on a fridge shelf when putting away the shopping. Had the house tore apart... again.

• When I was poorly the old grey matter wasn't good and I used to slir my words, Had to explain to the kids teacher I wasn't drunk but have a brain disease:o one day when they were telling be how one had fell from climbing frame and chiped their tooth.

I found a selection of items in wrong place bleach in fridge, milk in bathroom cupboard, cordless house phone in car, hubby would send me to shop for meat for his dinner and I would come back with random item like a magazine or something that was reduced but no dinner. I wasn't able to use my cooker when I was on my own ( used to forget it was on etc ) and had to call my hubby to let him know if I was going out and where was I going. He used to call me from work to remind me to eat, drink and make sure I had fed the baby and changed nappy. All this with a new born baby and a three year old with no family support. Life would be very boring if it was perfect. Ok now got through it :j but stories would be more funny if it wasn't so sad.

On the black out subject with kids or daftmummy's like me, I have when we had bad weather and power cut I have used the glow sticks ( the ones you get from pound land or 99p shop that can be made into bangles ) I stuck with blu tac on the top of the door frame out side kids room as they need a little light for night time wee trips and would of been scare with no light. You could have all ready stuck not used for times when you could just grab and snap for light. They are so small you wouldn't really see them and at least you know it light till you get lamps/candles. If you couldn't reach door frame you could stick under window sill or coffee table.

I have put some colouring books in my car in case we get stuck. I have a few items put away if we ever have a period of time home i.e. chicken pox etc I have the stuff needed to make playdough .

I do feel we are slowly excepting the situation this county is in i.e. petrol cost who remembers the blockaded to stop fuel going over £1.00 a litre?, we are by no means agreeing with the situation before anyone says but where are means to have change? my MP doesn't work for greater good for my folk round here why is the fuel cost going to kill so many people this year and why aren't TPTB educating in prime situations.
( know I'm sad but ages ago when we had bad snow and very cold, weather TV AM what ever its called now, showed how to make a basic soup to warm you up and handed it out at a train station or how to make draft excluders etc )

Hands up if you agree to public information films to be shown in ad breaks for !!!! factor and stcd? Basic first aid anyone? apart a one off

Sorry going off on one  Someone put the kettle on ! quick! nurse she is at the keyboard without a cuppa!!:rotfl::rotfl:
