I sometimes wish we could just be left alone to be the tiny island we really are. Not trying to play empires and side with bullies like the US...

Washed out a golden syrup tin and it's lovely, I just need an excellent prepping use for it before it runs off to hide in the cupboard under the sink never to be seen again. Lovely tin...

Depends what you are looking for, and are prepared to pay.

If you have a spare £58, you could get enough storage for about 25 days (based on the FEMA estimate of drinking and cooking water), for 1 person.

5 x 25 Litre Jerry Can - Container - Water Bottle With Drum Tap.

They're also available singly, but a bit expensive at £19 including P&P.
tried looking in Aldis few weeks ago but couldn't find the 10 litre water bags they advertised

I've not seen any 10L ones, but they were selling 20L ones, of which I bought 2.

Bedsit Bob the ones on amazon didn't have any reviews. This one looks ok but doesn't have a tap, good reviews though and less than £10 each including postage http://www.amazon.co.uk/Litre-Plastic-Water-Container-Grade/dp/B008MQB6TI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_lp_3
may get some, still not got a lot of water, 12 2 litre bottles in the pantry of supermarket still water. Though hubby has 3 5ltr tesco water bottle in the garage but I am never sure about reusing the shop ones too much.

I imagine a 25 litre one would take up quite a lot of room, certainly wouldn't fit under the bed and I am not sure I am allowed to put any more stuff in the garage!

  • I don't recall that 70s as being as bad as some people born after the decade are making out.

For instance Unemployment wasn't as horrendous as we've seen in subsequent periods or now.

It's almost as if some political ideology needed a 'foundation myth' and settled on those dreadful dark ages as the retrospective justification for their 'experiment' on society.
  • The thing to bear in mind, regarding water storage, is weight.

Full, that 25L container is going to weigh, as near as makes no odds, 26Kg.

That's over 57 pounds, or over 4 stone.

If you can store it on a raised platform, fine (you can just tip it on its side for pouring), but if not, you are going to have to move it.

    Hello jk0

    And AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!

Now I've got that out of the way, I am seriously considering stopping saving and transferring cash into something preptastic instead...

Thanks to GQ and others about watching what is in the account; definitely a bad idea now to keep too much in there, not that there is a huge amount by most people's standards.

As to savings, b* all interest accruing after all my scrimping, and definitely not keeping pace with inflation on everything else.

I have a strong feeling we are up sh*t creek without the proverbial paddle...

We may be able to draw back a tiny bit of money from DH's business, so more concerned than before about possible bank a/c raids by TPTB! Have started off my coin jars again, as insurance of a sort, but only a tenner in so far! May start trickle withdrawals to put somewhere safer (relative term, I know! :rotfl:), small amounts that seem normal.

Interesting. I guess the Polish government must have been pretty desparate to do this. Effectively they have maxed out their credit card and are now taking out a further loan to pay the interest. If I were a Polish public sector worker I would be very, very worried.
