MAR Hyssop is used in cough medicines traditionally, my herb book says that an infusion of Hyssop can be used to aid digestion, ease coughs, sore throats, hoarseness and bronchial catarrh. It also says that Hyssop Tea may be used to treat ear, eye and throat infections and relieve bites and stings, versatile stuff eh? Hope that's useful, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I make elderberry syrup. I find that if I get a hacking cough, it eases it massively - one spoon in a mug of hot water.
Also check out pontiac sauce. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I think it was for digestive upsets MrsL - but yes as you say it's versatile stuff. I used thyme for coughs.0

I'm making my colour coded list of things to get/do to see me through to March 2014. I do love a good list!
I'l ramp it all up if Syria escalates tough tbh I'm not sure of the potential consequences. If WW3 does start maybe the priority should be to hike up the credit card, collect a boot load of Pringles and alcohol and party like there is no tomorrow!0 -

HI all
Definately autumnal here, One bit of me loves it but it is a pest when i;m trying to hang the washing outside in blustery rain showers:D.
Trying to finish off a final essay this weekend, its been a bit of a slog to be honest. I keep thinking about all the other things i would love to learn to do. So methinks this will be the last academic course for a bit, I have all the qualifications i need for my post and my boss's if honest but when the opportunity to do this came up (work is paying) I thought i better. I will have to think of an excuse if asked why I don't want to carry on and do the next part as I'm not sure my boss would understand that I need to learn how to crochet, make string from bark and create herbal bits and bobs:rotfl: aah well.
I do enjoy reading and watching disaster books/movies but I am a complete woose (sp) so they can't be too serious or scary or I would be hiding behind the sofa a la 1970 Dr Who episodes.
I bought a couple of big fleecy blankets in B&M this week, double bed size, very soft and only £9 for when the wind and sleet picks up (optimistic aint I:D).
never heard of Hyssop Mar and Mrs L so away to have a nosey on the web, thank you.
take care all
Hugs WLL xMoving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j0 -
Got myself a set of plastic measuring spoons, inside a 1/2 litre/2 cups/16 oz plastic jug (with built in strainer), from £land.
I know what you are going to ask, "What have measuring spoons got to do with prepping"
My answer is, "I'll need something to measure the bleach, when purifying my drinking water".
ETA: The exact same measuring set is £3-99 on Amazon. :eek:0 -
Sorry if its already been mentioned but there is a programme on Monday evening called Blackout. It's on channel4 at 9pm.
Drama documentary exploring the effects of a devastating cyber attack on Britain's national electricity grid..........might be worth watching.0 -
Flinging it down again.
Just what I need on my days off.
Buggalugs meowed to go out, so I open the door.
She looked out, hesitated, then, rather than admit she'd made a mistake asking to go out, made a mad dash for shelter under some bushes.0
