Is it furlongs ahead of all the other brands? :D

Shegar is an MSE user ;)

My kelp taking seems to have me awake and alert, ready and happy to get me up and out of bed at 6.30am. It will be interesting to see if it has the same effect when the mornings are dark though.
  • I've been taking Sea Kelp from Holland & Barrett for a few weeks now and didn't think it had made much difference until I missed out a week taking it when I was away at DDs kitten sitting. Oh my goodness did I feel lethargic, much more energy now I have my supplies again , particularly noticable in how long I kept going in the wedding preps, the other thing I'm noticing is that my nails and hair are both growing fast, and the nails are so much stronger than they were so I'm certainly convinced it works, Lyn xxx.
  • Just a quickie (!),
I spotted this Kindle download on Amaz0n that is free today and may be of interest:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Survival-Seeds-Emergency-Heirloom-ebook/dp/B00DFUPO2Q/
You don't need to have a kindle, you can download their free kindle app to read it on a PC.

Thanks for that. I spotted this one too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Bug-Book-Package-ebook/dp/B00DERYYUS/ref=sr_1_4?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1378380997&sr=1-4&keywords=free+kindle+books+prepping#_

I've been in the hardware store I mentioned earlier, and the lamps are labelled SupaLite, model number SHHL5.

They are made by a company called Supabrands, of Worsley Manchester.

You could try contacting them, to see if they sell direct to the public.

    Tel: 0161 728 8047

    Email: enquiries@supabrands.co.uk

The lamps are available online (Amazon, Ebay etc.), but tend to sell for around £6 to £7 each.

For anyone within travelling distance of Ramsbottom, I can supply the name and address of the hardware store, that sells them for £3-95 each.

You'll see from the shops that I frequent and post about that I am a Cheapskate!!!!! Today we went to B&M and they have tins of haricot beans, not in tomato sauce but plain for 29p. They have Ainsley Harriot cuppasoups for 59p a pack of 4 and they have the chicken variety of savoury rice for 50p a pack, all good store cupboard staples if you have a B&M anywhere withing reach, Cheers Lyn xxx.

A B&M has opened near us so I will take a look. Don't really know what their range is. Have been put off going as they are in a very busy corner of a little retail park and the exit always gets congested, but I will make the effort next time we are passing.

Love the hurricane lamps, just a word of caution however, we invested in some of the cheap ones a few years ago and they all leaked, we very soon got rid of them so if you are going to buy a cheap version then it would definately pay you to fill them and use them sooner rather than later, just in case there is a problem when it is early enough to do something about it, Cheers Lyn xxx.

ALFSMUM B&M is an Aladdins Cave sort of place, ours carries a huge range of stock and you never find the same thing twice on the shelves, the moral of this is that if they do have something you use at a low price it would pay you to stock up as it probably won't be there next time you go! Lyn xxx.

I've had 2 of the SupaLite ones for a couple of years (just got 2 more this morning), and neither has leaked so much as a drop.

However, as mentioned earlier, if you are concerned about leaks, £world sells a 16cm round white dish (Catania brand), which makes an ideal bund, for the SupaLite size lamps.

It's also possible to seal a leaking font, on a hurricane lamp, using a couple of teaspoons of sealant, designed for vehicle fuel tanks.

Another good catch! I downloaded the app and it has opened a whole new world. There's actually quite a lot of free kindle out there.
Just been watching the latest on Syria. Apparently Syria is talking tough and promising massive retribution if they get attacked.
There has been reference to a re-emergence of the cold war but it looks like it's gone past cold to me...
  • BOB the worse thing about the leaky hurricane lamps was the fumes when the had leaked, we kept them in the utility room on a shelf to start with, but the smell was quite strong, so we put them in the shed and they still smelled horrible. We ended up hanging them up outside to let the fumes dissipate in the fresh air and they rapidly went rusty, so we got rid of them, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • I don't find the smell of paraffin that unpleasant.

While it's not the nicest smell in the world, it's not, by any means, the worst.
