Hubby caused ours to shut down in disgust once, were going to brothers new home at edge of Glasgow for first time so he used sat nav and we came to end of a road and could go only left or right, she(why do all guys have the she) said left and hubby who had not checked out the route via map properly as he normally does said am sure its right so turned right, sat nav flashed a couple of times and shut down. We pulled over got map up and she was right it was left turn. He most put out and since then rarely uses her and if he does checks out route and very often will annoy her by going another way,so you get the calculating, calculating over and over until new route found, but never a full 180 degrees the opposite way again.
It needs upgrading but we cannot get maos as the model isn't made any more so gaps. She is missing the final part of the M8 into Glasgow which does cause fun, her saying go here or there and 'calculating all the time, till you are on dry land so to speak and she knows how to direct you properly.
Can be quite fun confusing them.

That's pretty shocking about the allotments...even more so that people come into peoples gardens and take vegetables being grown.
I'll share food but I dislike the idea that it is taken off you by force by authorities. Especially, I did not panic buy but it was purchased for legitimate reasons and using money that is difficult to find as spare cash. And that may mean I need to go to a food bank when in a way my store is my own food bank.
The more I see/hear I dislike the life I see most of us are living or what's coming...We are trying(I know I am)to try and hang onto some of the values and life I have know but it seems to be being chipped away at wherever possible.
And like PAH, GQ and others I need medication to keep my condition stablised and without it will either get worse or I could die."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Another place to hide food would be to take the side or end off the bath & hide it round the bath. I had a quilter friend who did this to hide her stash from her husband.

:rotfl:Especially the bit about everyone decamping up here!!!
Don't worry HB, I'm not wasting good panic time by running to Scotland, I'll be off down West
You can come too if it gets a bit crowded up there, but don't bother with a Sat Nav, they struggle with the Welsh roadsigns :TI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

HesterI have my bath panel off at the moment to dry the area out after the leak fixed last week, so it's a potentially risky strategy............:rotfl:
Errmm, your friend's stash was quilting materials, I assume, not droogs?
There's also less room under there than you would expect.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I thought I'd list out what I have as my version on an every day carry as i was chatting to a friend about "being prepared" and she carries nothing at all!
I have of course my lovely swiss card that I bought the other week which consists of a small ruler, scissors, pen, blade, tweezers, pin, light, magnifier, mini screwdrivers
in my wallet: credit card, cashpoint card, paper money, loose change, some store cards, postage stamps, emery board, fake pound coin token for lockers and shopping trollies, card part of driving licence, another magnifier freebie from vision express, a few vouchers and coupons
ON my bag (hanging as decoration hidden amonst charms etc) I have two sharpie pens, a small foldup backpack, an led torch, a safety pin, a paperclip, a bottle opener and small blade, another pound token thing
IN my bag: filofax which contains SO much I can't even list! including yet another £1 token, steristrips and a facemask!), keys, headphones, phone and usb charger, spare hair bobble, antihistamines, store card wallet, camera, wallet (see above)
In front pocket of bag: dogtag (mirror), mini pack of playing cards, pumpkin 9 bar, coffee sachet, transpore tape (bidirectional tear fab stuff!), tissues
In back pocket of bag: salt, sugar, sweetner, wet wipes, imodium melts, loperamide, buscopan, oystercard, spare daily meds
no wonder I have backache(Don't worry its a tiny back pack I am not putting strain on just one shoulder for any osteo types!)
what have you got? what should I add?Blah0 -
Ooohh, I'm jealous.
I'm worling on my everyday stuff, for a scenario when I couldn't get back home. Sounds daft as work and home are 5 mins apart but occasionally a Major Police Incident causes Shoebox Towers to be cordoned off even to residents.......
My workbag contains a miniature wash kit, just enough to keep me respectable if I had to crash away overnight. I also have a mini sewing kit in a flat square tin and a tiny multitool. Both of these live in an otherwise unused flat pocket.
I also carry cash (coins and notes) and cards and a mobile plus my keyring has my own keys and my parents' keys.
I carry my meds (plenty as life-saving) and some painkillers so nip a migraine in the bud. I'm planning on adding a mini first aid kit and a few other bits and bobs.
On Dr's orders I always carry a snack and a water bottle. That's about it, really. If I was out and about for more than a few hours at a stretch, or further afield, I have more and different kit.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

The plunger reminds me of the old dolly tub and posser.
I thought about your back before I got to the end of your post vanoonoo.
I have a makeup pouch with some emergency things in it (no make up) but I keep taking it out of my bag. I need a new bag so I think I will have to choose one with emergencies in mind.0
