Does anybody know if this site is reliable? Ive copied this from UKPreppers. I don't know the site but they seem to be quoting the BBC.

Of course - using them isn't the same as understanding how they operate, or how to set one up, to run on a separate engine - any more than driving a car makes you a good mechanic. Even I get that.
Unfortunately, your posts haven't helped twerps like me have any better understanding of either. All I've learned is that you appear to know all about it. Maybe you assume everyone who posts or lurks here also does, but I certainly don't.
For the record, what you've taken as sarcasm was meant as slightly frustrated tongue-in-cheek teasing.
Oh well.

I didn't realise you wanted it explained to you.For the record, what you've taken as sarcasm was meant as slightly frustrated tongue-in-cheek teasing.
I realised that, hence theat the end of the sentence.

IKitchen is also randomly bubbling with kimchi and sauerkraut. I am having a go at fermented runners tomorrow which I am looking forward to as I love lacto fermented foods.
Ooh Kimchi. I developed a taste for that last year in Korea. I am going back soon. How do you make it?I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
As far as I can tell the individual pieces of information on the site are true. However, I would argue that their presentation of the information is a bit contentious. As far as I know, the resolution is still in the debating stage which means that Russia and China walking out doesn't actually mean that much. I think they're unlikely to vote for it, to the extent that I don't even think they would bother debating a re-wording.
My guess is that the most significant consequences in terms of UK preppers like yourselves will be that the US will quickly solve its debt ceiling crisis as soon as something is authorized involving them. Nothing will get Republicans to back down on the issue like a bit of military funding. Of course, the debt ceiling crisis is just a symptom anyway--its like the US trying to get out of a long term contract because they realized they can't afford the payments...a bit late now. It will probably temporarily ease some of the economic strain by increasing cash-flow, but the already bloated military budget will only get worse and the economic impact will only grow as we push it from today to tomorrow.
Anyway, the only action I can see passing a UN resolution is a peacekeeping mission and even then, I think the chances are relatively slim. Otherwise, it is likely to be multi-lateral air strikes, either a coalition or some sort of NATO action.
Russia and China were never going to sign up for an intervention anyway, so for the site to imply that it is somehow an escalation is a little misleading, in my view.
Sorry to butt in. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to these things;) As you were.0 -
Don't feel like you are butting in.
Everyone is welcome.0 -

That's okay as far as I'm concerned. ;-)
I'm looking around on internet and somehow can't make sense of WHY Russia and China are so dead set on the NO vote.
Why are they so adament?
What are we not being told on this end? Will this be a similar situation as Iraq was, of governments claiming to have all kinds of proof, when in fact there was little to none?
it is so hard to filter through the propaganda I think. hard to determine what is propaganda and what is truth.
I don't want to get all political or anything, I think this is not the place. But I'm trying to make sense of what's going on, and trying to figure out how worried I should be.0 -

Also, have you had any visits, and, if so, how did you deal with them?
Had one visit, let them in, (I know you don't have to). Showed them TV connected to old Playstation but no aerial connection and no TV channels tuned and they looked a bit taken aback and went away again. If they were aggresive or rude they wouldn;t have got through the door. Of course, if you have the iplayer on an internet connection there is no way for them to know whether you are watching live or on catch-up, so far as I know. We don't watch much TV anyway, but the kids watch DVDs (and old cartoons we picked up on VHS for nowt, this is the OS forum after all :rotfl:). I do get a licence to watch some stuff live - got one for the 2012 Olympics for example. We've spent a few years living without any TV at all, its amazing how much more time you find you have to get things done and if we lost power supplies there be many incoveniences but lack of televisual entertainment wouldn't be one of them.0
