  • Hi everyone!

Been away for the las couple of days, I have been reading and curiosity go the better of me regarding washing clothes with no leccy.
I have found a pedal operated washing machine on Amaz@n, just search for 'pedal powered washing machine' it's £55 and has no reviews... Just an idea!

:) Hey, ginny, I lived in abject poverty for three years in a bedsit with almost nowt and swept my disintegrating bit of "carpet" a couple of times a week with a stiff brush and pan.

It's a good workout and you feel a need to keep on top of things to keep your self-respect. Although I was going out into the world every day from a much more difficult and uncomfortable home enviroment than many of the citizenry, cleaniliness and tidyiness were maintained at home and about my person, so you would never have known to look at me.

If nothing else, handbrushing really warms you up.

Yesterday I added several more candles to the candle stash. Some I bought for a few pence, totally unused, from a lady who told me she'd bought them as decorative objects but now they were dusty she didn't want them. Hmmmm. And people think preppers like me who stash candles in cupboards against future needs are the odd ones..............:rotfl:

Gonna be a busy day today so will have some more tea then get out and at it, mebbe rejoin you in the evening. Work, errands, lottie, etc etc so on and so forth.

Packing today and probably won't be online again 'til DS2 is in or home as I've got so much to do it's ridiculous..
My lists are growing by the minute and still got to work out what to leave behind as it won't all fit!

We're going up by cab as it's easier but hate not having the car with us when we're away anywhere. We aren't used to it when he's in hospital we generally have everything but the kitchen sink with us.

New hospital for us too and he's on the adult wards for the first time so things will be totally different to usual..I know I'm rambling but I'm stressed :rotfl:

Mar tell DavidC I just bought his new BugIn book to take with me to read on my kindle looks really good.

Will pack my mini GHB I usually take just need to find my shoehorn!

DS1 is looking after DS3 and my parents are popping over too but I always worry when I have to leave him with anyone in case he kicks off I really need to chill but will probably be like this 'til we're home Friday!

Right better get cracking speak to you all soon XXX

  • Thanks CHEAPY great fun!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • Now that we are starting to get potatoes and greens from the garden, I'm redirecting the money spent on these to tinned and dried goods for the pantry. Today I added corned beef, tuna and mackerel (in tomato sauce) and another bag of tagliatelle. I also popped two screw-topped glass jars (meant to be for biscuits) into the trolley - I'll use these for storing lentils or bulgar wheat.

I'm currently buying a pack of rechargable batteries each month. Originally I bought Duracells but now I've changed to Sanyou eneloop batteries as these keep their charge for a year. A little pricier but worth it to be able to take a pack of fully charged batteries from the drawer when needed.

We have a mix of solar and battery powered torches and lamps. We are pretty remote and power cuts can last a few hours. So now we have lamps and torches in almost every room.

A rare appearance from me but something I am using and it is brilliant, I have made loads more space in my food storage cupboard. I ordered dozens, honestly. 4 at first then I found they were fantastic so I went on a spending spree as they are reduced and won`t be stocked when sold. Any over I will give to dd but maybe there won`t be any over as I am going into storing more uniforn round tins and not much in the jars line, Well except the hm stuff under the stairs of course

I am busy and fine, apart from getting ostoearthritis in my thumb joints, so am trying to be more careful lifting heavy dishes etc I just look in from time to time and am very happy to see so much support for each other

    anyway the link
