I will keep in touch when I can get access...this is one of the few sites I can get onto still (but only now and again). I am so glad I have been prepping for a while. Please keep prepping as you never know what is going to happen next in this world.
I feel alert and can sense things are going on. I may not know what they are but that does not matter as much as being ready for whatever. Having a long discussion with my other half on what we plan to do in plan c, d and e in case plans a and b don't work out that we already have in place. Good job I am a creative thinker!!!! Off to clean my kitchen and hang out the washing....“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Remember you can use a biscuit tin lid as an excellent frying pan - fish fingers and omelettes are great on lids

Off to clean my kitchen and hang out the washing....Hun, I just punched greek+crisis+sept+2012 into my search engine and there's some very worrying stuff out there. NY Times was leading with a story (2nd Sept) that US banks are making preps for Greece to default and exit Euro in days. If the internet is being restricted and telecoms affected, I'd very worried that it was imminent. Sept 14th is flagged as a day to watch.
*********
GOULIAMAKI/AFP/Getty Images You could mark Friday 14 September in your diary – that's the date when Greece is aiming to have won approval from its Troika of lenders for its €11.5bn of spending cuts.
********Speaking to reporters in Athens today, an official from the finance ministry said:Our aim is to have agreed with our partners by September 14th.Agreeing those cuts has been a long process, which still isn't over, with finance minister Yannis Stournaras struggling to carve out the savings that have been demanded. It was reported last week that a total of €10.8bn of cuts has now been agreed.
The worry, of course, is that Greece could be asked to make even more cutbacks to keep on track with the Troika's demands, unless Antonis Samaras can win some leeway*********
That's off the investmentblog part of the Guardian's website btw. A lot of the chaff online seems to believe that a settlement won't be agreed on 14th and that Greece will default on its debts and crash out of the Euro.
((((((hugs))))))) and prep harder. Been reading about what happened in Argentina and the smart move would be to take as much of your cash out of the bank now, if you can access it.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

((hugs)) 2tonsils and stay safe. The feed from c****s was very broken on the news this morning and they were only doing a piece about most wanted crims. living there. It is possible it is affecting a wide area.
It is easier to block access on an island. They put some kind of filters on the net in Sin&@p0re to stop people accessing stuff the powers did not want them to view.
Hello milkybars good for you for wanting to learn to do these things. You never know when you might need an alternative way of doing something.0 -
Hello MILKYBARS - Nice to have you aboard, Cheers LYN.0

Well, my wind-up LED lantern proved to be ineffectual despite another poster finding it good. Light faded dramatically after a minute or two and then several minutes after that was only good for a weak glow identifying where itself was sitting but not lighting any more than that.
I'm a bit gutted as I really want a source of portable light, safer than candles, which isn't dependant on batteries as in a really prolnged SHTF situation, they'll run out.
Have taken it back and been refunded. Plodding on.
Have decided that the Army Surplus store needs to be visited this afternoon as there are one or two bits I have my eye on and thoroughly enjoy having a poke around in such places. I get on pretty well with blokey-blokes as long as they don't stray across into the macho idjeet territory so we can have a good old natter. I shall take my shopping trolley because I'm [STRIKE]woman [/STRIKE] old enough to brazen it out......:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GQ - Ik*a have a solar lantern style light at the moment - think it was about £5 ish. I don't have one of these but I do have a couple of the Sunnan solar reading lamps from them which are superb and have lasted for 3+ years. We just leave them on the windowsill and they charge from daylight, it doesn't have to be sunny even! You could see it online I think and there is an Ik*a at Bristol and another one at Southampton also Croydon, if any of them, are near enough to reach from Shoebox Towers. Hope this helps Cheers Lyn xx.0

2tonsils, hope all your prepping pays off, we will be thinking of you. Scary times indeed.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Thanks Mrs LW, I shall take notes for when someone is next heading towards an IKEA. it's like a pilgrimage to the Promised Land, I've never been myself but one day, before I'm too old............:rotfl:
I'm finessing my stocks at the moment so just hope no one who doesn't already know I'm a nut job comes around and finds me ankle-deep in tinned rice pudding! It's such a comfort food in the winter and can't see it sitting at 12p a tin for much longer.
I used to adore the low fat rice pud they sold in L!dl for 19p. Went for it one day, oh, over a year ago now, and it had doubled in days. Even higher now. Gosh, how I wished my crystal ball had been working and I'd've bought 100 of them before the increase.
My hand wavered and withdrew as I am my mother's daughter. Mum's catchphrase when confronted with dramatic price hikes is : Don't pay that you'll only encourage them!
She has various things she likes but she won't ever pay full price for them so they're brought on special or not at all.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
