We are off to Grand Makadi hotel in August and would appreciate if anyone has been to Makadi Bay already and could offer some tips and share their experience.

I have booked with Red Sea Holidays and although they have provided answers to some of the questions I have, they differ from what people had to say on Trip Advisor, which again had varied responses.

In particular, I am interested if we can book excursions while out there? We would like to visit Cairo and Luxor but I would like to book them once we are there.
Also, does anyone know what is the deal with using Sunwing Waterpark swimming pool for guests not staying at their hotel?
Any advice on if it is worth paying extra to use facilities and restaurants at Makadi Palace hotel?
What water sports are there?

This is my first holiday so any advice/tips/thoughts are appreciated.

Excursions will be forced upon you left right and centre. From Hurghada to Cairo is a simple bus journey but takes about 7 hours - If it was me Id take the local bus. Luxor is the same and takes about 4 hours. Cost from Hurghada to Luxor is 50EGP (£5)

If you assume that for a whole day in a city (i.e Cairo) you can hire a driver and car for 200EGP (£20) then it will give you some indication of whether you are being scammed when it comes down to local journeys.
