Overnight Stay - France

Hi All

I am driving from Calais to Lacanau in August. I'll be arriving in Calais early evening and am looking for somewhere to stay about 3 hours drive away.

Can anyone advise please.

Thank you

Lots of hotel chains lots of options just fill in your details, from cheap and cheerful to Luxurious.

Thanks Bob, I didn't phrase my question well enough, sorry!

What I need to know is where (town) on that journey should I be looking for a hotel? Its my first time in France.

    Thanks

Alencon is a lovely town, right on your route and just about 3 hours from Calais.

Alençon might be pushing it a bit for 3hrs, by the time you leave the the terminal and then find your hotel etc. what is it 200 miles?

Somewhere near Rouen may be a more relaxed 3 hrs

It may not be what you're comfortable with but I never book anywhere for the en route stop in France, I just start looking when I've had enough

Alencon is 232 miles from Calais. Takes no time at all to leave the terminal if you take the tunnel.

However, I just noticed that the OP is arriving at Calais in the evening, in which case I wouldn't fancy a three-hour drive. I'd stop at Montreuil-sur-Mer: lots of hotels and restaurants, and a lovely evening walk round the city walls. Perfect!

I never book either. Going down that side of France I stop anywhere between Neufchatel-en-Bray and Alencon depending on time/inclination. The little village of Brionne (two hotels) is a particular favourite.

Bernay is pleasant, a bit of a sleepy hollow, but then so is most of rural France!
