Hi I desperately need a little inspiration to get me through the next week before my new cooker arrives-we have been without one for 3 months and it should be here next week.
I have a slow cooker, microwave, steamer and a mini oven and I mean mini-you can get 6 fish fingers in it lol
Please give me some basic recipes with nothing out of the ordinary ingriedients to keep us going this week before we die of boredom( I swear one, just one more sausage casserole and I will hurl lol)
I have in the usual staples meat veg etc and can spend around £10 on any specific ingredients.
Many Thanks

how about a savory steamed pudding? i love a bacon and onion suet pudding, or leeks and bacon, or a steak and kidney - or just steak,Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

How about a curry in the slow cooker with jacket potatoes in the microwave? Just for something a little different.0

Ooh that suet pudding sounds lovely, how do I make suet pastry(sorry i can make shortcrust but never attempted suet)
Curry is a fab idea, not had a curry for ages0 -
Suet pastry is 8oz (250g) sr flour 4oz (125g) suet and enough water to bind lightly into a dough do not use too much water a sticky dough is usually heavy. You want a smooth elastic dough. delia on line has a step by step guide http://www.deliaonline.com/how-to-cook/baking/how-to-make-suet-pastry.htmlBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Thanks for the links and advice on suet, am definitely going to give it a try, love puddings!
Tonight we are having braising steak, tomorrow chilli(thanks for that), and try the puds the day after.
Cannot wait for my cooker to arrive! Its been a hard long 3 months!0 -
How about a moroccan tagine - I do mine in the slow cooker as apposed to a tagine dish in the oven. You could serve with cous cous or rice.

I've cooked pork chops in the slow cooker, just squirted a good dollop of BBQ sauce in there (the table sauce, no special marinade) and left on low for 8 hours. I served with mashed potato which might not be easy if you can't boil potatoes - but you could bake a couple of potatos in the mini oven to serve with it (or use Smash?). Or possibility even microwave the potatos?
If the mini oven will fit a shallow pie die in you could make a pie. Chicken, steak, rabbit, whatever - prepare the filling in the slow cooker beforehand and then line the dish with pastry, pour in filling and cook in oven for 15-20 mins.
I can't wait to get a proper oven too - thankfully we have a decent sized combination microwave (can just about do a roast for 2 in there if I stack things carefully but have to sacrifice yorkshire puddings, which I find terribly sinful! OH isn't keen on them so doesn't mind so much though) and the hobs on the oven still work, even if the grill is practically uselses and the main oven missing its door!0
