Hi,

I've been looking at foreign holidays for next year for ages now (will be our first foreign holiday for three years if we do it). Been scared off by Trip Advisor time and time again. I think I am settled on Holiday Village Tenerife, it looks very good. I would really appreciate feedback on the price I would be able to get it for (see below), whether I would be better to wait until nearer the time to book, whether people think there are perhaps better options out there and well anything anyone cares to suggest really! :T

Below is the copy and paste detail:

This is the deal I could get for next June.

£2592.00 Includes:
£208.00 online discount

Sorry to repost, but I think I have probably been swallowed up in the volume of posts. I have one further question, though: would this sort of quote be open to the "haggling up to 15%" article? I assume not.
    Thanks again.

How many people are going? I have been to the Holiday Village in Majorca and it was great. Don't get put off by reviews on Trip Advisor, there is always someone that wants to complain about something! We had a great time and would definitely go again. Its great for the kids. Thinking of going again soon if we can get our passports sorted!

    Hi Barney,
It is my wife and I, and our 2 kids (they will be 7 and 11).
It does sound a good place to go. I do wonder about the price though, and whether I should hang on if deals come up nearer the time (equally, nice to get it all sorted so you don't worry!)
    Thanks,

    Duncan

From what I know the cost sounds pretty reasonable to me. The holiday villages tend to get booked up pretty quickly and if you leave it you may be taking a chance on it going. I guess it depends on if you are restricted with work and the dates you can go. You might get it a bit cheaper, but I doubt it will be too much more.

    Hi Barney,
Just to repost (if you or anyone else is interested!), in the end I booked for 2 weeks AI to Lanzarote Holiday Village, which was total cost of £2300.00 for the 4 of us .

Again, some poor Trip Advisor comments, but a lot of good ones, too.

    Thanks for your advice.

Replying to my own post again! (but with a question about Gatwick Airport). THe flights are from there, so I was wondering if anyone has experience of the best way to do this? I live in Kettering and as far as I see it, the options are: persuade someone to run us there and back; drive and park somewhere for the two weeks; drive and stay in a hotel the night before with parking for the two weeks; go on the train: go on the bus!

Anyone's opinions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I've been to Holiday Village Tenerife a few times now. It's one of the best family hotels I've ever been to. It's a lovely place, the food is great, the pool is lovely and Tenerife is a beautiful island. Only thing is you'll probably want a car, and car hire at the hotel is quite expensive €42 per day for a chevrolet Avio, which is a perfectly good enough car. Have fun.

When I go to Gatwick, I normally go by train, getting someone to run you there is great, no driving just before your holiday. You can get paid to park at Gatwick if you know how. You quidco your parking through https://www.essentialtravel.co.uk then select APH parking (either meet+greet or park+ride). Then show them that you can get the parking cheaper direct at https://www.aph.com . Under their price promise they'll then give you a refund on your parking, full details at https://www.essentialtravel.co.uk/airportparking/priceguarantee.asp
